Marathon’s Latest Duos Queue Experiment Heads to Outpost for One Week

Okay, so the Dire Marsh map is gone for Marathon players, which is a bummer, but don’t worry! Bungie has a new map called Outpost going live at 10 AM PT on April 1st. It’s still part of the Duos experiment, but this time you’ll need to team up with a friend beforehand – there’s no matchmaking, so make sure you and your duo are ready to go!

This special activity will be available until April 8th at 10 AM Pacific Time, and we think players will find it interesting. The Outpost map is tough – it’s not as straightforward as Cryo Archive – and completing its puzzles and getting the right access to escape can be difficult, particularly with only two players. The development team at Bungie is monitoring player experiences and looking for any problems that might arise.

Director Joe Ziegler didn’t reveal future plans, but shared that they’ve been carefully reviewing data and listening to feedback. He promised to keep everyone informed as the project develops and improves.

It’s been almost a month since its release, and it’s still unknown when Marathon will officially offer a dedicated queue for Duos (two-player teams). Currently, you can start matches with a friend, but you might still encounter full squads of three players. A true Duos mode would only match two-player teams against each other, ensuring a fair experience. Given that the game is largely built around squad-based gameplay, Bungie is likely testing the two-player setup thoroughly before releasing it for everyone.

We’ll share more news as it becomes available. Soon, we’re planning a patch to adjust gameplay, along with new Implants to let you customize your Runners. Season 2: NIGHTFALL isn’t launching until June, so we’ll see if Bungie can keep players engaged until then.
