The most striking thing about the family photo Mariah Carey shared on Instagram on December 26th was how much her 14-year-old twins, whom she shares with ex-husband Nick Cannon, have grown – they’re now taller than her, even when she’s wearing heels.

It’s amazing how quickly time passes when you’re a Christmas tradition! Recently, Mariah Carey’s husband shared a photo of her twins, Monroe and Moroccan, from an early December visit. The twins have grown so much they even seemed taller than Nick Cannon (who was crouching at the time!), along with his three younger children.

Mariah shared one photo of her kids from this holiday, but she’s also talked about her beloved annual traditions. These begin with a sleigh ride on Christmas Eve, which she enjoys in Aspen, Colorado.

Being in Aspen is completely different from being at home in L.A., mostly because of the snow,” she explained to Extra in 2021. “I love looking out the window – it feels magical!”

At 56, she finds it wonderfully invigorating to soak in a very hot tub when it’s cold outside. She also generally enjoys all the activities winter has to offer.

Mariah enjoys cooking for Christmas, especially using recipes from her father. On Christmas Day, they have a classic holiday dinner. While she gets help from others, she always makes the mashed potatoes herself – and loves doing it!

Mariah said it would have been “pretty amazing” if she’d known as a child that people would one day call her the “Queen of Christmas.”

She felt it was disrespectful to strongly declare one’s identity with phrases like ‘That’s just who I am.’ She expressed a deep love for the holidays, saying that even when efforts are made to create a festive atmosphere, it doesn’t quite compare to the real thing. She considers herself a traditionalist when it comes to the holidays, even recalling enjoying Christmas in places without snow.
