Mario Kart World Has Sold Over 14 Million Copies Since Launch

Although still far behind Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Kart World is having a strong launch. Nintendo’s recent financial report shows the game has sold 14.03 million copies as of December 31st, 2025. This is impressive considering it’s only been available for under seven months and includes copies sold as part of Nintendo Switch 2 bundles.

Several Nintendo games have achieved significant sales numbers. Donkey Kong Bananza sold 4.25 million copies, while Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition reached 3.89 million (totaling 8.41 million when combined with sales of the original Switch version). Kirby Air Riders also performed well, selling 1.76 million units.

It’s surprising to see Metroid Prime 4: Beyond missing from the list. While it only came out in early December and might have performed well on the original Switch, given how long it was in development – especially after being restarted – and considering it’s a new Metroid Prime game, it’s a little disappointing.

Even though it’s only been on the market for under seven months, the Switch 2 has already sold over 17.37 million units, showing Nintendo is really just beginning to release its core games. The next major title is Mario Tennis Fever, launching February 12th. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will follow in April for the original Switch, and there’s a possibility it will look even better on the Switch 2 with enhanced resolution.
