The family of Greek heiress Marissa Laimou is mourning her loss.
Marissa, 28, was found dead in her London home after being bitten by an insect, her mother, Bessie Laimou, reported.
According to an interview with Greek publication Parapolitika on September 13th, Bessie reported that the woman was bitten by an insect, developed an itch, and sought medical attention. After receiving antibiotics and appearing to recover normally – eating and sleeping – she unexpectedly passed away.
Bessie—who shared Marissa with husband Diamantis Laimou—added, “My girl left for nothing.”
Marissa died shortly after experiencing symptoms like dizziness, itching, and signs of an infection, several news sources report.
I was so shocked to read about Marissa’s passing. Apparently, she’d been to two hospitals, but they sent her home with antibiotics. Then, on September 12th, her housekeeper found her dead in her London apartment. It’s just heartbreaking – she was the head of Rainbow Wave, a really successful fashion marketing company.
Prior to Marissa’s death, she had overcome a battle with breast cancer, her mother shared.
“My daughter beat cancer,” Bessie shared with *Parapolitika*. “My sweet little girl. She was incredibly talented, and everyone – all of England, even her doctors – is deeply saddened by what happened.”

Following Marissa’s death, her family – a well-known Greek shipping and import business – and friends remembered her love of the arts. They particularly recalled her starring role as Juliet in a London production of *Romeo & Juliet* in February.
The family is devastated by the unexpected passing of Marissa Laimos, daughter of Diamantis and Bessie Laimos, according to her aunt, Chrysanthi Laimos. She described Marissa as a kind, quiet, and well-educated young woman with a love for art and theater, in which she was actively involved. Chrysanthi offered her heartfelt condolences and wishes for strength and courage to the family during this difficult time.
