“I have a bad feeling about this” is a beloved line from Star Wars because it fits so many different scenarios. It’s likely been said more than any other line in the films, aside from the iconic “May the Force be with you.”
As a movie fan, it’s tough to beat a truly iconic line, and ‘May the Force be with you’ from the original Star Wars is definitely up there! I remember when Luke says it as the Millennium Falcon heads towards the Death Star – it just gave me chills. What’s amazing is that it’s been repeated in every Star Wars movie since, usually word-for-word. Honestly, whenever a new trilogy comes out, I always anticipate hearing it – it feels like a necessary part of the experience!
The iconic line has been spoken by several characters throughout the Star Wars saga. Harrison Ford delivered it in both Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, while Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi said it in two of the three prequel films. Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, and Hayden Christensen have also spoken the line. Interestingly, it was even communicated through BB-8’s beeps and whistles in The Last Jedi.

The newer Star Wars films played with the famous line, “I have a good feeling about this.” For example, the droid K-2SO starts to say it but is interrupted – something that also happens in the Disney+ series Skeleton Crew. In Solo: A Star Wars Story, actor Alden Ehrenreich delivers the line, but his character’s optimism turns out to be completely wrong.
It’s almost certain we’ll hear the famous line in future Star Wars films. It would fit perfectly coming from Ryan Gosling in a potential Star Wars: Starfighter movie. It will be interesting to see if it’s included in The Mandalorian and Grogu, especially since that film is based on a TV show. The line has appeared in other Star Wars series on Disney+, but not yet in The Mandalorian and Grogu.
