Mark Harmon will be returning as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in a special two-part episode that connects the original NCIS series with the new prequel, NCIS: Origins. This marks his first appearance in the role since the Origins pilot.
According to the co-showrunners of Origins, David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal, Mark Harmon will reprise his role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs for a special NCIS crossover event on November 11th. Four years after his character retreated to Alaska for a solitary life, fans will finally learn what Gibbs has been up to – and discover he’s no longer alone. The showrunners acknowledged the fans’ desire to see Mark return.
Harmon expressed his pride in the storytelling of David and Gina on Origins, noting their commitment to exploring the characters’ histories. He was pleased with an idea they had for his character, Gibbs, and felt it was a natural moment to revisit him. He hopes viewers will appreciate the episode.
