Following the news of Steve Martin’s daughter, Katherine Short, passing away at 42, his upcoming comedy show with Steve Martin has been postponed, as confirmed by his representative to TopMob News.

Steve Martin and Martin Short have postponed their Milwaukee show originally planned for February 27th, according to the Pabst Theater Group. The postponement is due to unexpected issues. Tickets for the original date will be valid when the show is rescheduled, and updates will be shared as soon as possible.

Earlier today, a representative for the Inherent Vice actor shared the sad news that Katherine, the daughter of Martin and his late wife Nancy Dolman, had died. They expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

The Short family is heartbroken by this loss and respectfully requests privacy. Katherine was deeply loved and will be fondly remembered for her positive energy and the happiness she shared with everyone.

Katherine, as reported by law enforcement to TMZ, was found dead at her home in the Hollywood Hills on February 24th, in what appears to be a suicide.

TopMob News has reached out to Martin for comment but hasn’t heard back.

Over ten years ago, Martin—who is also the father of Oliver Short, 39, and Henry Short, 36, with his wife Nancy—spoke about dealing with loss after Nancy passed away in 2010 following a fight with ovarian cancer.

Everyone experiences loss and pain,” he explained to Maclean’s Magazine in 2014. “You realize that even after hardship, life goes on—the sun still rises, and the people you love will still be caught up in their own everyday concerns. That’s just a part of life.

Martin explained that if you’re naturally a happy person, you need to build strategies to regain that happiness when things get tough. He emphasized that you can’t simply ignore difficult experiences like loss; you need to process them. He used the analogy of a broken leg – you need a cast to heal, and similarly, you need to allow yourself time to heal emotionally.
