As a lifelong cinema and comic book fan, I thought we’d seen the last of the Marvel-DC crossovers for a while! But it looks like I was wrong. Tomorrow, two brand new team-ups are dropping out of nowhere. It feels like only yesterday they brought their universes together after years apart, and they haven’t stopped since – first with Batman and Deadpool, then Superman and Spider-Man. And honestly, it sounds like we can expect even more of these exciting crossovers in the future!
As a huge comic book fan, I’m really excited about this! Starting tomorrow, Marvel and DC are teaming up for a couple of fun crossover specials, releasing them on their streaming services. Over on Marvel Unlimited, they’re dropping an infinity comic called It’s Jeff!/Aquaman – seriously! – written by Kelly Thompson with art by Andres Genolet. The story involves a kaiju attacking Coney Island, and it’s up to Aquaman and…Jeff to save the day. And on DC Universe Infinite, you’ll find a DC Go! comic, Supergirl/Blade, by CRC Payne and Mikel Janín, where the heroes get kidnapped by Mojo and forced to star in a ridiculous reality show. The best part? Both comics are totally free if you already have a subscription to Marvel Unlimited or DC Universe Infinite.
Marvel and DC Dropping Two Unexpected Crossovers on April 7th

Although dedicated fans suspected a Supergirl/Blade team-up was coming, nobody anticipated it would be released so quickly, particularly with a new Spider-Man and Superman special planned for release soon. This surprise drop happened last November, just before Batman/Deadpool came out. Both Marvel and DC released exclusive crossovers on their streaming services – Thor/Shazam! on Marvel Unlimited and Flash/Fantastic Four on DC Universe Infinite. It’s a clever marketing strategy and a guaranteed way to build excitement for future major team-ups.
Although fans might prefer seeing surprise team-ups released in standard comic format, publishing them as digital, scrolling comics is a clever strategy. Comic book fans are well aware of the major crossovers Marvel and DC frequently produce. However, Marvel Infinity Comics and DC Go! Comics attract a different audience – readers who aren’t as familiar with ongoing comic book storylines. Introducing unexpected crossovers through these platforms is a great way to offer something fresh to these new readers while also boosting interest in the main Spider-Man and Superman stories.
I never would have imagined seeing team-ups like Supergirl with Blade, or Jeff with Aquaman—though, thinking about it now, the latter actually fits! It’s great to see Marvel and DC taking these kinds of creative risks. It opens the door for even more unexpected ideas, and might hint at future crossovers. In the meantime, you can check out Supergirl/Blade and It’s Jeff!/Aquaman starting tomorrow on DC Universe Infinite and Marvel Unlimited.
