Marvel Announces Upcoming Movie Release Dates for 2028, 2029

Marvel Studios just announced its movie schedule for the next three years. Disney revealed three new release dates: July 28, 2028, May 4, 2029, and July 13, 2029, meaning fans can look forward to new Marvel films each summer for the foreseeable future.

Here are the currently scheduled dates for upcoming Marvel movies, which don’t have titles yet. Now the guessing can start about what each movie will be!

Upcoming Marvel Movies

While Marvel has films tentatively scheduled for 2028 and 2029, there’s still a lot to look forward to in the near future. Their next release is a team-up with Sony: Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The initial trailer for the film broke records, becoming the most-watched movie trailer launch ever, proving fans are highly anticipating its release on July 31st.

The Avengers team up again after seven years in Avengers: Doomsday. This movie also features characters from the X-Men films previously made by 20th Century Fox, creating a crossover story that’s been years in the planning. It hits theaters on December 16th.

But that’s not the whole picture. The story will finish in the upcoming Marvel Studios movie, Avengers: Secret War, which is scheduled to come out on December 17, 2027—almost a year after the release of Doomsday.

Marvel Plots Out Phase 7

Now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga is expected to end with Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, Marvel has announced dates for films in 2028 and 2029, giving fans their first look at what Phase 7 of the MCU might hold. This naturally leads to the question: what movies will be released on those dates?

A third Black Panther movie is a likely option. It’s officially in development as a follow-up to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and there’s been talk about casting an older T’Challa and Nakia. While Marvel hasn’t shared any official details, director Ryan Coogler announced late last year that Black Panther 3 is his next project and that they’ve already started early preparations.

Marvel has three potential release dates and could fit either of two previously announced films into any of them. Armor Wars, starring Don Cheadle as War Machine, was originally planned as a Disney+ show but is now intended as a movie. The reboot of Blade has faced several changes in creative direction since it was first announced. Despite some skepticism, Marvel hasn’t canceled either of these projects.

Now that Daniel Destin Cretton’s new Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is coming out this summer, he’ll likely be able to start working on the sequel to his first Marvel film, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The project was announced a while ago, but it took a backseat as Marvel focused on its larger Multiverse Saga and properties like the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and X-Men.

The X-Men movie is probably Marvel’s biggest current project. Jake Schreier, who directed Thunderbolts, is set to direct, and Michael Lesslie is writing the script. Given the X-Men’s recent appearance in Avengers: Doomsday and rumors linking mutants to the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it’s very likely this film will be the main focus of Marvel’s Phase 7, and could be scheduled for one of the dates Marvel just announced.
