The one-year countdown to the release of Avengers: Doomsday is almost here. Excitement for this Marvel movie hasn’t been this high since Avengers: Endgame, which was a guaranteed box office hit. Doomsday faces a different challenge, though. For a while, just the Marvel Studios name was enough to draw audiences, but recent Marvel films haven’t performed as well, hurting the studio’s reputation. Studio executives are hoping this new Avengers film will help restore their success.
Okay, so it’s not just Marvel pushing hard for their next big event movie. Disney, as a whole, is really going all-in on promoting it, and they’re strategically timing the campaign with the release of the new Avatar film, Avatar: Fire and Ash. Honestly, it’s not a huge surprise, but the specifics are pretty wild. Apparently, they’re planning to drop four different teasers for the movie before showings of Avatar 3, releasing a new one each week starting December 19th. That’s a lot of hype building!
People used to be excited about going to the movies multiple times a month to see trailers for big films. But in 2025, with rising ticket and snack costs, fans are likely to prefer watching teasers on their phones at home. The fact that this isn’t yet an official option is causing a lot of frustration online.
Many users on the r/MarvelStudios subreddit are frustrated with the way trailers for the new movie are being released, hoping for a single, traditional trailer everyone can watch. However, some people are trying to stay positive and avoid getting caught up in the negativity.
User BladeStudios shared an interesting thought: while some are worried about the trailer being shown before the movie, they think it will also be released online. They suggest a Friday evening release could encourage more people to see Avatar earlier in the day. Knowing it will likely be leaked anyway, the user believes releasing it officially would generate revenue and excitement.
Although BladeStudios makes a good point, it’s hard to fully agree with them right now. Marvel Studios already made a significant misstep while setting up the events for Doomsday.
Avengers: Doomsday Already Burned Fans Once

In March, Marvel announced the cast for the fifth Avengers movie in a unique way. Instead of a typical video announcement, they held a live stream that stretched for several hours, revealing each cast member’s name every 15 minutes with a new chair reveal. This approach received a lot of criticism, as many fans felt it was a waste of their time.
With details about the Doomsday trailers leaking early, Marvel Studios can’t be criticized for not keeping things a surprise. However, fans would really appreciate not having to sit through a three-hour movie multiple times just to see the few minutes of new footage.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
