Captain America is a central figure in the Marvel universe, consistently serving as a role model for other heroes and demonstrating how to maintain strong morals even when facing overwhelming challenges. Steve Rogers has always been a compassionate person dedicated to improving the world, and he actively fights against injustice. Originally appearing during World War II, Captain America was largely a symbol of American strength against the Nazis and other villains of that time. However, the character has evolved significantly, and Steve Rogers frequently finds himself at odds with his own government and its policies.
Steve Rogers, Captain America, always strives to uphold his vision of what America could be—a nation built on strong ideals. He consistently confronts those who abuse their power and threaten that vision. Recently, this struggle reached a shocking climax. In Captain America (2025) #11, Steve was killed while battling Red Hulk and his army of Hulk-like soldiers. The tragic irony is that he died at the hands of people who were supposed to be his fellow American soldiers, making it a powerful betrayal and a compelling story.
Captain America Versus America

The situation in Latveria reached a breaking point. Following Doctor Doom’s vanishing, the country descended into chaos, and his dangerous weapons became vulnerable. Captain America’s team aimed to secure those weapons, but General Ross intended to seize them for the United States. This led to a full-scale conflict between Cap, Ross, and the destructive Salvation group. However, issue #10 revealed a surprising twist: a young clone of Doom, carrying what appeared to be a powerful weapon. Fury wanted to eliminate the clone, Steve Rogers wanted to protect him, and Ross sought to completely destroy Latveria.
The copycat of Doom escaped, but Red Hulk and his enhanced soldiers announced they would utterly destroy Doomstradt to “restore order,” acting without permission from any authorities. Steve Rogers, Captain America, attempted to stop Red Hulk, but was quickly overwhelmed, though he managed to stall long enough for Sam Wilson, another Captain America, to rescue a child. Despite their efforts, the Hulks proceeded to demolish everything in their path. Steve saved as many people as he could, but tragically, he sacrificed himself to protect a child from a collapsing building, succumbing to his injuries. At the same time, Ross discovered the backpack and proclaimed it a victory for America.
America’s Dead Captain Is the Casualty of a Fantastic Moral War

Steve and Ross share a common goal: they both want to improve their country and help it live up to its full potential. However, they have very different ideas about how to achieve this. Steve is driven by a desire to serve others and believes the country’s problems stem from flaws in the system itself. He’s also humble, recognizing his own limitations and being open to suggestions and collaboration. He prioritizes helping people above all else.
General Ross claims to be working for the good of America, but his actions are driven by self-interest and a desire to crush anyone he sees as an enemy. While he presents this as patriotism, his true motivation is revenge against Doom, who previously tortured him. Ross is deeply damaged and incapable of thinking beyond his own anger, so he uses his position and a false sense of national pride to justify his aggressive behavior. This fundamentally differs from Steve’s approach, as Ross is convinced he’s always right, while Steve remains open to the possibility of being wrong.
