Marvel is bringing the popular symbiotes to the screen for the first time this year in the animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. While Tom Holland’s Spider-Man hasn’t yet faced off against Venom or worn the black symbiote suit, a hint of Venom was left in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, it doesn’t look like they’ll meet in the upcoming movie. Instead, the Disney+ animated series will be exploring the symbiotes and other villains in its second season.
New promotional images from Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man have revealed the first glimpse of Spider-Man’s Symbiote design and logo. It appears Peter Parker will be wearing the black suit, hinting that the show will adapt the famous “Symbiote Saga” storyline this fall.
An alien life form with a close, interdependent relationship with a host appeared in Season 1 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. It arrived through a portal created by Norman Osborn’s Project Monolith, and it’s currently unknown if this alien was the original Venom or a different member of its species.

Doctor Strange and an alien creature were unexpectedly sent back in time to the day Peter Parker gained his superpowers. This ultimately helped defeat the alien, but some of its substance remained. Norman Osborn discovered this substance, likely leading to it bonding with Peter Parker and transforming him into Symbiote Spider-Man in the next season.

As a huge Spider-Man fan, I remember being totally captivated by the Venom storyline when it hit the big screen in Spider-Man 3 back in 2008. Seeing Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker connect with that alien symbiote was wild – it really brought out a darker, angrier side of him. It all came to a head with that iconic, and honestly kind of cringe-worthy, ‘Bully Maguire’ sequence, culminating in him accidentally hitting M.J. – played by Kirsten Dunst, of course. It was a memorable, if not slightly problematic, moment!
Season 2 will feature Venom, one of six characters returning from Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man movies, in a fresh new take. Gwen Stacy will also appear.

Okay, so as a huge Spider-Man fan, I was thrilled to see the symbiote back in the new Spider-Man 2 game. It was a really interesting twist how it bonded with Peter when he was almost killed by Kraven. Things got seriously intense with a massive showdown between Peter and Miles, and then the story took a heartbreaking turn – the symbiote ended up going back to Harry Osborn, who was really sick. It was a powerful moment, honestly.

The story focusing on the symbiote has appeared in several animated Spider-Man series, including Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Spectacular Spider-Man, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Unlimited, and the 2017 Marvel’s Spider-Man show.

While the symbiote often boosts Peter Parker’s powers and can save him from serious injury, it drastically changes his personality and creates significant issues in his life.

The symbiote usually attaches itself to Peter Parker initially, but he eventually breaks free, often by exploiting its sensitivity to loud, high-pitched noises. After separating from Parker, the symbiote then seeks out other hosts, including Eddie Brock and Flash Thompson, and has done so with many others over time.
Venom’s Future In Movies & TV Explained
Marvel Studios has assured fans that the upcoming Disney+ series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, won’t repeat the error of linking Harry Osborn to the Venom symbiote, as happened in Spider-Man 2. While it’s still unknown who the main villain will be, it appears Peter Parker will be the first to don the black suit.
With Eddie Brock not appearing on the show in the foreseeable future, viewers are starting to think about who else might bond with a symbiote. Some previously thought Mac Gargan, also known as Scorpion, could become a host, and that idea might actually fit better with the current season, YFNSM Season 2, than it did with the Brand New Day storyline.
Although Sony’s live-action Venom movies starring Tom Hardy might be finished after three films, they’re now planning an R-rated animated Venom movie. For a while, the studio kept Venom separate from the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it now seems possible that the character could appear in Spider-Man 5 or 6.
Following a large data breach at Insomniac Games, plans for a potential Venom game were revealed, in addition to Wolverine and Spider-Man 3. However, there haven’t been any updates about the Venom project since then, so it’s unclear if it’s still in development.
