Marvel Studios Has Confirmed These 10 Marvel Characters Exist In The MCU (But We Haven’t Seen Them On Screen)

The MCU has already established the existence of numerous characters, even before they’ve had a formal introduction. Often, we only hear their names, see their belongings, or catch a glimpse of them in the background. This leaves fans speculating about whether these characters will ever officially appear. It’s a way of building anticipation and hinting at future storylines.

Marvel often hints at future projects and new characters through post-credit scenes or official statements, but not every hint leads to something concrete. There’s also a different way characters are introduced: sometimes they’re simply mentioned or alluded to by existing characters in the films. This means they are, in a sense, part of the MCU, but their individual storylines might have concluded or been put on hold without a major reveal.

10 MCU Characters Who Exist Only Through Easter Eggs & Mentions

The Living Tribunal

The Living Tribunal is a massive, golden, humanoid being with three hooded faces, each representing a different aspect of its personality: Fairness, Need, and Retribution. There’s also an empty space where a fourth face should be, hinting at the presence of a mysterious being known as the Stranger. This incredibly powerful cosmic entity is as ancient as the universe and its job is to protect the Multiverse, maintaining balance and order.

In Season 1, Episode 5 of Loki, viewers briefly saw what appeared to be pieces of a statue belonging to the Living Tribunal within The Void. Prior to this, Karl Mordo, a sorcerer from Kamar-Taj, possessed and used a staff he identified as the Staff of the Living Tribunal. He initially used this relic to train Doctor Strange when he first began studying the mystic arts, and later employed it in a battle against Kaecilius.

Jocasta

Jocasta, who is Ultron’s wife in the comics, had a brief appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Her name was spotted on a list of AI programs that Tony Stark was working on. In the Marvel Comics universe, Ultron originally built Jocasta as a robotic partner, but she later switched sides and helped the Avengers defeat him.

Although this character’s story hasn’t been shown in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet, there were small clues about her in a 2015 movie. When Tony Stark was looking for a new AI to replace JARVIS (which Ultron had seemingly destroyed), he saw a chip labeled JOCASTA. However, Stark ultimately picked FRIDAY, meaning fans didn’t get to see Jocasta right away. Still, reports say Jocasta will be appearing in the upcoming Vision series on Disney+.

Uncle Ben

Although Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben is often mentioned during Spider-Man’s adventures in the MCU, he died before the main story even started. His death was a key element of Peter’s past, and it’s why he kept his Spider-Man identity a secret from Aunt May.

Throughout Tom Holland’s three Spider-Man movies, Uncle Ben was mentioned but never actually appeared on screen. This changed with Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, which premiered on Disney+ in January 2025, and included Uncle Ben’s first spoken lines within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although the series doesn’t take place directly within Holland’s Spider-Verse, the scene offered a welcome and touching moment for fans who had long hoped to see Ben recognized.

Miles Morales

The character Donald Glover played in Community was the initial inspiration for Miles Morales; Glover wore a Spider-Man costume during his time on the show. He later lent his voice to Miles in the Disney XD animated series Ultimate Spider-Man. Since first appearing in comics in 2011, Miles Morales has become a hugely popular young hero for Marvel, even starring in his own animated movies like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man: Homecoming featured a brief introduction of Aaron Davis (played by Donald Glover). He casually mentioned having a nephew nearby, which was a clear reference to Miles Morales. However, despite this hint, neither Aaron Davis nor his nephew has appeared in a movie or show yet.

Even so, fans are still excited to see Miles Morales join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, either alongside or even after Tom Holland’s Spider-Man – just like in the comic books.

Blade

There’s been a lot of discussion about a Blade movie within the MCU for a while now. The project was revived in 2019, with Mahershala Ali cast as the iconic vampire hunter. However, it’s faced numerous challenges since then – including changes in directors and writers, cast adjustments, and a long period of being stuck in development.

Even so, Ali first appeared in a brief scene after the credits of Eternals, which also hinted at the introduction of Black Knight. While a different take on Blade will be featured in Disney+’s Marvel Zombies, the plans for Marsheala Ali’s Blade within the MCU are still unclear.

Brother Voodoo

Doctor Strange skillfully laid the groundwork for the backstory of Jericho Drumm, also known as Brother Voodoo, and subtly suggested he might already be present in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Jericho and his twin brother, Daniel Drumm, grew up in a Haitian village but made different life choices. Daniel stayed in Haiti and became a spiritual leader, while Jericho moved to the United States to work as a psychologist and researcher. In the comics, Daniel’s unfortunate death is what leads Jericho to become Brother Voodoo.

The MCU briefly showed this backstory in Doctor Strange. We see Daniel Drumm as a skilled Master of the Mystic Arts before Kaecilius kills him. This event could still be the starting point for Jericho’s story, with his brother’s death leading him to explore mysticism. He then quickly becomes even more skilled in voodoo than Daniel was.

It’s natural to think Marvel already has enough wizards and magic-users. But adding Brother Voodoo would introduce a unique kind of magic to the MCU. Interestingly, in the comic books, he’s even been the Sorcerer Supreme at one point.

Brian Braddock (Captain Britain)

In the comic books, Brian Braddock transforms into Captain Britain by selecting the Amulet of Right instead of the Sword of Might. This choice grants him increased strength, the ability to fly, and control over energy.

Despite interest from major actors such as Henry Cavill, Captain Britain hasn’t appeared in the MCU yet. The character was first mentioned in Avengers: Endgame when Peggy Carter said the name Braddock, suggesting he exists within that universe. With groups like Excalibur potentially joining the action, Captain Britain’s introduction could lead to a whole new area of storytelling within the MCU.

Rick Jones

In the comic books, Rick Jones is a good friend and helper to the Hulk, and later becomes the hero called A-Bomb. The character was briefly referenced in The Incredible Hulk movie, as his name showed up on the U.S. Army’s list of people Bruce Banner might get in touch with.

The 2012 film The Avengers showed that SHIELD had files detailing Rick Jones’ link to Bruce Banner. However, even with these hints, it’s been 17 years since Rick Jones first appeared (though not on screen) in The Incredible Hulk, and fans are still hoping for a full introduction. A lot of viewers are excited for both Rick Jones/A-Bomb to be featured and for more movies focused on the Hulk, which would give other characters from the franchise a chance to shine.

Beta Ray Bill & Dark-Crawler

Characters such as Beta Ray Bill, Ares, Bi-Beast, and Man-Thing made quick appearances in Thor: Ragnarok as statues showing previous winners of the Grandmaster’s Contest of Champions on Sakaar. This made some fans think their stories might have already happened within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and people are still curious about what those stories could have been.

Beta Ray Bill is a particularly interesting character who hasn’t been fully utilized yet. He’s a powerful cosmic warrior who famously evolved from being Thor’s opponent to becoming one of his closest friends. Including him in the MCU would not only broaden the cosmic aspects of the universe but also offer viewers new and thrilling interactions with Thor.

Ares

The character of Ares was hinted at in Thor: Ragnarok, with a statue of him appearing among the Grandmaster’s former champions on Sakaar. Later, his father, Zeus, and brother, Hercules, appeared in Thor: Love and Thunder. That film concluded with Zeus wounded in the chest and Hercules determined to get revenge on the God of Thunder.

Given that Hercules is already challenging Thor, many fans expect Ares to enter the fray soon. As the God of War, he logically might also want to test his strength against Thor, which would naturally fit into the developing War of Gods.
