Marvel Studios Is Rebooting This Marvel Netflix Hero In 2026

A popular hero from Marvel’s old Netflix series is getting a fresh start in 2026. After Marvel Studios regained control of these characters, they began integrating them into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with Daredevil (played by Charlie Cox) appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home. This has led to full reboots of the Netflix shows, with Daredevil: Born Again coming to Disney+ in 2025, and more characters being reintroduced in 2026.

Fans were thrilled to hear Krysten Ritter would return as Jessica Jones in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series, following her three seasons on Netflix. Although a new Jessica Jones show on Disney+ hasn’t been confirmed, Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum has stated that Ritter’s appearance in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again will essentially relaunch her character within the Marvel Universe.

In an interview with the Official Marvel Podcast, Marvel executive Winderbaum discussed plans for Marvel Television in 2026. He announced that Jessica Jones will be reintroduced through the Daredevil: Born Again series. He hinted that the character will appear after a considerable time jump, with much of Krysten Ritter’s role focused on explaining what Jessica Jones has been doing during that time.

It was incredible when Valentina Romanoff first arrived on set in her signature leather jacket and boots – it really felt like ‘there she is!’ What’s especially interesting about her character is how much time has passed since we last saw her. It’s been a significant gap, and that creates a lot of exciting possibilities.

We’re bringing this character back and explaining what she’s been doing, and it involves a lot of exciting twists and turns.

The new Daredevil: Born Again series successfully balanced continuing the story from the Netflix show with a fresh start, keeping the original actors while also integrating Daredevil into the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, Marvel plans to do the same with Jessica Jones, bringing back Krysten Ritter to reprise her role and telling a new story that moves past the events of her previous series.

As a big fan, I’m really curious to see how much of what happened in the Jessica Jones series will actually be considered official backstory in the new Daredevil: Born Again show. I’m glad they’re doing a time jump, though – that should explain any differences since we last saw Daredevil back in 2015!

Jessica Jones will return thanks to the work of Matt Murdock, who is fighting against Wilson Fisk’s new laws targeting vigilantes. This will bring Daredevil together with other New York heroes. Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, has also confirmed the Disney+ series will continue the relationship between Matt Murdock and Jessica Jones that began in their previous Netflix team-up.

Vincent D’Onofrio will be back as Wilson Fisk, and Deborah Ann Woll will return as Karen Page, joining Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal for the new season of Daredevil: Born Again. The season will start streaming on Disney+ on March 4, 2026.

Will Jessica Jones Get Her Own Disney+ Reboot?

Disney hasn’t confirmed if other Marvel characters from Netflix will join Disney+, but the planned return of Jessica Jones in 2026 suggests they’re thinking about reviving her show, much like they’re doing with Daredevil: Born Again.

Now that Jon Bernthal has reprised his role as The Punisher in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel Studios has already filmed a special TV movie featuring the character. If Jessica Jones’ return, played by Krysten Ritter, is popular with audiences, she’s likely to get a similar Disney+ project.

It makes sense that Marvel would use the Daredevil: Born Again series to set up more Jessica Jones stories. This would give viewers a chance to see Krysten Ritter reprise her role within an existing show before continuing Jessica Jones’s adventures in a new, connected Disney+ series.

Winderbaum has suggested a new Jessica Jones series is on the way “sooner than you think,” indicating that Marvel may soon be fully committed to rebooting its Defenders characters.
