Arc System Works briefly updated the Steam page for their fighting game, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, to show it will launch with 20 playable characters. The update was spotted by Gematsu, but has since been removed and the Steam page now contains less detail.
The Steam page for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has revealed the game will not only feature a large roster of characters, but also stunning 4K graphics and a smooth, consistent 60 frames per second during gameplay. Players on PC will also be able to take advantage of the DualSense controller’s advanced features, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback for a more immersive experience.
Although the full list of characters isn’t available yet, trailers for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls show that Captain America, Doctor Doom, Ghost Rider, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, and Storm will all be playable. The game will support online lobbies for up to 64 players, and a single-player Episode mode will explore the stories and relationships between each team.
It’s notable that this Steam listing mistake happened right before Sony’s State of Play presentation on February 12th. Sony has confirmed the event will feature news, gameplay details, and announcements from both PlayStation Studios and their partner studios worldwide. The showcase is expected to last over an hour and will begin at 2 PM Pacific Time / 5 PM Eastern Time.
Last November, Haluk Mentes, the general manager of Marvel Games, explained that Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls aims to re-establish Marvel as a major presence in the fighting game scene. This new fighter from Arc System Works will be the first Marvel fighting game released since 2017’s Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Mentes also highlighted the game’s art style, which is inspired by anime.
Mentes expressed excitement about the collaboration with ArcSys and PlayStation, calling it a dream come true. The team set out to re-establish Marvel as a major force in the fighting game world, aiming for a distinctive anime-inspired look and top-tier tag-team gameplay. From the beginning, they focused on innovative design to showcase ArcSys’ signature style. Mentes highlighted the unique yet instantly familiar design of Iron Man in the game. The team is very proud of Marvel Tōkon, and believes players will love it when it launches next year.
The fighting game Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls was announced last June and is in development for PC and PlayStation 5. While a release date hasn’t been set, a recent update to its Steam page suggests a big reveal could happen during this week’s State of Play event. You can also watch gameplay footage featuring Spider-Man and Ghost Rider from Tokyo Game Show 2025 in the meantime.
