The Illuminati are a famously powerful group within Marvel Comics. They recently gained even more attention through their appearance in the movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Now, a new Marvel storyline has begun, and a key member of the Illuminati has unexpectedly died due to the actions of a clever villain.
The story continues from last year’s Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe in Godzilla: Infinity Roar #1. Written by Gerry Duggan with artwork by Javier Garron and Ig Guara, the new series picks up after Earth’s heroes failed to defeat Godzilla and sent him into space. However, their efforts were short-lived, as the symbiote god Knull has now found Godzilla and has his own plans for the monster.
The details of Knull’s plan unfold in Marvel’s Godzilla: Infinity Roar #1. Although Knull couldn’t directly control Godzilla or his offspring, he covered Godzilla in a swarm of symbiotes for protection. With this symbiote armor, Godzilla was unleashed to demolish planets as part of Knull’s larger goal: wiping out all life in the universe. His first target was Birnin T’Challa, the capital city of the Wakandan Empire, which Black Panther had built across the galaxy.
What member of Marvel’s Illuminati died fighting Godzilla?
Even Wakanda’s advanced technology couldn’t defeat Godzilla, especially with symbiotes protecting it. Just when things looked hopeless for Wakanda, Black Bolt of the Inhumans appeared. His power is immense – even a whisper from him can cause incredible destruction.
Black Bolt’s voice is one of the most devastating weapons in the Marvel Universe. It’s capable of incredible destruction – it once completely obliterated the symbiotes and even stripped the scales off of Godzilla. Despite this immense power, it wasn’t enough to permanently defeat Godzilla, who is incredibly durable and can heal at a rate comparable to Wolverine.
Black Bolt’s most powerful attack only managed to anger Godzilla. The Inhuman king quickly perished, along with the last of Birnin T’Challa’s forces. Those few who remained were then corrupted and joined Knull’s expanding army.
Godzilla: Infinity Roar #1 is now available at comic shops everywhere.
