Insomniac Games, the team behind the popular Marvel’s Spider-Man games, hasn’t shared much about their next project, but recent reports suggest we’ll get a first look at Marvel’s Wolverine this month. A new report from Mp1st also indicates they’re working on a spin-off game called Marvel’s Venom. The studio is reportedly planning to release Marvel’s Wolverine in 2026.
According to Mp1st’s sources, the upcoming Venom project will star Eddie Brock as the main character. This choice connects to the classic Symbiote storyline from the Spider-Man comics and would also logically follow the story established in *Marvel’s Spider-Man 2*.
The upcoming game will star Brock and feature Cletus Kasady as the villain Carnage. Anti-Venom is also anticipated to appear. Reports suggest that Insomniac Games initially aimed to release the game sometime in 2024.
The report suggests Insomniac Games is planning to include Spider-Man 2099 (Miguel O’Hara) in an upcoming game. It’s unclear whether he’ll appear in *Marvel’s Wolverine* or *Marvel’s Venom*, or if he’s destined for a different, unannounced project.
We last received updates on Marvel’s Venom movie back in December 2023, when a 2025 release was initially planned. Around the same time, Insomniac Games was reportedly beginning development on Marvel’s Spider-Man 3. Early reports also indicated that Carnage would be the primary villain in the Venom spin-off.
Insomniac Games is anticipated to reveal more about *Marvel’s Wolverine* later this month, probably at Tokyo Games Show 2025. According to Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, early versions of the game have been well-received by playtesters, who have found it to be impressive.
Henderson confirmed the project is finally finished, though it experienced significant delays. He explained that while the ransomware attack and data leaks were problematic, the emotional impact on those whose personal information – such as addresses and social security numbers – was exposed was substantial.
The game’s development was unfortunately set back a bit. However, early feedback from playtesters has been very positive, which is great. We’re hoping to hear a confirmed release date within the next few weeks.
