The Owl is no longer getting the best of both worlds.
I was so surprised during last night’s The Masked Singer! We all had to say goodbye to the Owl, and honestly, none of the judges even came close to guessing who it was. I’m dying to know – who was under that mask?
The contestant dressed as a bird of prey shared that he’d become very popular, explaining that everyone was talking about him and people were even copying his style.
The Owl’s popularity didn’t last long, as he soon discovered people were making fun of him instead of appreciating him. Fortunately, he got an opportunity to prove everyone wrong and silence his critics.
He shared later in the competition that he’d attempted baseball, but ultimately felt drawn to pursue a different direction, following his intuition.
He excitedly announced his success, explaining that he tries to pass on this lesson to his children: pursue your passions, and you’ll achieve great things in any area of life.
During the Valentine’s Day episode of the Fox show, the Owl opened up about a new relationship that helped him through a difficult time. He shared that the connection began when he was facing public criticism and personal struggles.
I’ll never forget it – I got this random text one day that said, ‘The vultures are circling, but I’m in your corner.’ It was so strange because I had no idea who it was from! Turns out, it was someone I really didn’t see coming. She was amazing, truly beautiful inside and out. We went on a date, and honestly, the connection was instant. We’ve been together ever since, and I’m so grateful for that mysterious text and the incredible person who sent it.
The judges noticed a clue in Owl’s package that said “Mile 1992,” suggesting it might be a significant year for him. He then performed Billy Idol’s “White Wedding,” and a dancer in red accompanied him, playing the tambourine.

After his performance, a clue came in the form of a phone call. Owl answered, and the message was from his partner, who wasn’t present, saying, “Hey baby, Lady Owl here. I’ve loved watching you. Good luck tonight, and Happy Valentine’s Day!”
Judge Jenny McCarthy quickly noticed Lady Owl’s British accent, and Ken Jeong asked if she was from the U.K. All the judges then looked to Rita Ora, who grew up in Britain, and she playfully responded, “You’re all looking at me like I’m supposed to recognize every British person!”
When asked about the message, Owl became very upset and seemed to be fighting back tears.
He lost the competition against Stingray, and the judges then made their final predictions about the masked celebrity’s identity.
Oh my gosh, this was SO good! Robin was totally thrown, first thinking it might be Walton Goggins because he and The Owl have similar voices, all drawly and sleepy-sounding. But he ended up sticking with his first guess: Dennis Quaid! Jenny, though, she’s a genius! She remembered the heart monitor clue and immediately thought, ‘Does he play a doctor?’ And she nailed it! It was Ted Danson, Dr. Becker himself! Ken was all over the place, initially thinking Matthew McConaughey, then Woody Harrelson, but he quickly agreed with Jenny – Ted Danson was the one! And poor Rita? She went back to her first guess and decided it was Kurt Russell. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!
Turns out all the judges were mistaken! The Owl was actually Billy Ray Cyrus, and Jenny was shocked, saying, “Oh my god! I can’t believe I didn’t figure that out!”

Billy expressed his excitement about being on the show, saying it was a real honor and a lot of fun. He emphasized the power of music, noting that it’s constantly evolving and can truly change people’s lives.
The judges were stunned that they hadn’t guessed the singer’s identity. Robin remarked that it was unusual for them all to be wrong, especially considering the performer was a well-known celebrity they’d often tried to identify. He added that successfully fooling all of them was a significant feat.
During his performance, Billy revealed that the characters Lady Owl and the woman in red were tributes to his partner, Elizabeth Hurley, whom he affectionately called his “angel.” Billy and Elizabeth began dating publicly in April 2025, but they first met while filming the 2022 movie Christmas in Paradise.
Billy Ray Cyrus, now 64, first became famous in 1992 with his hit song “Achy Breaky Heart.” He later gained a new following when he appeared on the Disney Channel show Hannah Montana with his daughter, Miley Cyrus.
