Masters of the Universe Trailer Shows Off He-Man, Jared Leto’s Skeletor, & More

The first trailer for the Masters of the Universe movie has been released.

Travis Knight directs the new movie, Masters of the Universe, which is based on the popular 1980s franchise. The film stars Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-At-Arms, and Jared Leto as Skeletor. Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios will release it in US cinemas this June.

What happens in the Masters of the Universe trailer?

The new Masters of the Universe trailer shows Knight reviving the classic franchise with a large-scale, live-action movie, according to the official description.

The story follows Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine), who returns to his homeland, Eternia, after 15 years apart. He finds it devastated and ruled by the evil Skeletor (Jared Leto). To rescue his family and world, Adam must become He-Man – the universe’s most powerful man – and team up with his friends, Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba).

Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Charlotte Riley, and Kristen Wiig (voicing Roboto) are also part of the movie’s cast.

The movie’s script is credited to Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, and Dave Callaham, building upon a story developed by Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, Alex Litvak, and Michael Finch. Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Robbie Brenner, Steve Tisch, and DeVon Franklin produced the film, with Ynon Kreiz, Bill Bannerman, and David Bloomfield serving as executive producers.

Laika Studios’ Travis Knight previously directed the acclaimed film Kubo and the Two Strings in 2016 and Bumblebee in 2018. His latest project, Wildwood, is scheduled for release this October.

Masters of the Universe will be released in United States theaters on June 5, 2026.
