Matt Damon’s wife was almost stuck on his best friend.

Matt Damon shared that his wife of 20 years, Luciana Barroso Damon, originally had a crush on his best friend, Ben Affleck, when she first saw them together in a movie almost 30 years ago.

Matt recounted on The Howard Stern Show on January 12th, during an interview with Ben, that after a few months of dating, he learned an interesting story from his partner’s high school friend. Apparently, both he and Ben were once taken with the same person – the friend thought Matt was cuter, while his partner thought Ben was. He described the story as ‘completely true’.

She confessed to me,” the 55-year-old explained. “I was shocked and asked if she had the wrong person. She said this happened 23 years ago.”

Howard made a joke about how something like that is memorable, and Matt playfully responded, confirming he remembered it after Howard pointed it out.

Interestingly, Ben and Luciana have started working together professionally. In fact, Luciana is producing Ben’s new movie, Animals.

Ben, 53, enthusiastically praised her, saying she’s both a talented producer and a wonderful friend. He believes he somehow offended her in person, as he didn’t sense any negativity before.

As for Matt’s theory, the Bourne alum joked, “Finally she met him and all that went away.”

Howard jokingly pointed out that it would be really upsetting if Luciana left Matt for Ben, Ben’s best friend, which reminded Luciana of her old feelings for Ben. Matt agreed, saying he’d be hurt if both of them were no longer in his life.

Matt and Luciana met in 2003 while Matt was filming Stuck on You in Miami. They married in a private ceremony in 2005, and both still vividly remember the night they first connected. They share four children: Alexia, 25, Isabella, 19, Gia, 17, and Stella, 15.

Luciana shared with Vogue Australia in 2018 that she met Matt Damon while working as a bartender in South Beach, Miami. He was filming a movie in the area, and his crew came to the bar one Saturday night. Damon has said he noticed her from across the room, remembering a light shining on her.
