Matthew McConaughey Reveals Bedroom Secret That Saved His Marriage

Matthew McConaughey can attest that size matters—at least when it comes to beds.

In his new book, Poems & Prayers, and in recent discussions, actor Matthew McConaughey suggested that couples can improve their marriage by switching to a smaller bed. He explained that he and his wife, Camila Alves, have found this change beneficial for their relationship.

Matthew, a father of Levi (17), Vida (15), and Livingston (12), shared with Fox News that his family and friends often use a large, combined king-size bed for sleepovers. He explained that it works well when the kids are younger, with parents on either side, but eventually the children outgrow it and need their own beds.

It was so strange at first. I remember waking up and Camilla seemed miles away in bed – seriously, it felt like a football field between us! And then at night, when you just want to cuddle, it was this awkward dance. We’d have to each move about twelve feet closer just to be able to snuggle up – it was a funny, but definitely unusual, situation.

Okay, so she’s 55, and now that her children are all grown and gone, it finally *hit* her – she realized how amazing it is to just be *near* the people she loves. It’s like, she spent so long raising them, she didn’t appreciate just *having them close* until now. It’s beautiful, honestly. I totally get it!

He said his wife complained that their king-size bed was actually hurting their marriage. She told him to get rid of it! So they switched to a queen-size bed, and he believes being closer together – literally shoulder to shoulder – has actually improved things.

As Matthew and Camila’s children get older, their relationship is strengthening, and Matthew has also started including his family in his work as an actor.

Matthew McConaughey recently acted with his mother, Kay McConaughey, who is 93, and his oldest child in his new film, *The Lost Bus*.

Matthew recently shared that his son made his film acting debut earlier this month, and he was even on set with him for some scenes. He said it’s special because it represents three generations of performers – his mother has also been involved in film. Matthew added that he didn’t even know his son was interested in acting.

You know, as a parent, it’s tough when your kids pursue a creative path! I learned that Matthew McConaughey initially brushed off his son Levi’s desire to audition for a role *with him* in a movie. He just wasn’t sure Levi was truly serious about acting at the time, so he didn’t immediately jump on board with the audition requests. It’s a relatable story – wanting to protect your kids while also letting them chase their dreams!

Matthew remembered the actor asking him repeatedly, ‘Can I audition for the part?’ He quickly shared the idea with the casting director. After the actor did a screen test, Matthew was impressed. He thought the actor had a natural talent and presence on camera.
