Under the production banners of Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, “A Minecraft Movie” brings to life the much-loved video game on the big screen for the very first time. Starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black, this live-action film is directed by Jared Hess, offering an adaptation of the best-selling video game of all time, Minecraft.
For the very first time, a blockbuster movie version brings to life the highest-selling video game in history. The story unfolds in two worlds – our reality and the Overworld. In this realm, creativity isn’t just for crafting; it becomes vital for your survival as you face off against swarms of Zombies and Piglins.
In the cinematic realm crafted by Jared Hess, the “Minecraft Movie” unites an unlikely quartet: Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (played by Momoa), who was once a champion in the video game “Hunk City Rampage”; Henry (Sebastian Hansen) and Natalie (Emma Myers), siblings; and Dawn (Danielle Brooks), a multi-tasking freelancer. They find themselves drawn together when the Orb of Dominance, the most potent cube-shaped artifact in the cosmos, transports them into the Overworld – a captivating cubic universe that flourishes on creativity.
To return home, they must embark on a mystical journey alongside Steve (previously enamored with mines and now a skilled artisan in the Overworld), who has the power to fabricate anything he imagines. They’ll need every bit of their expertise to vanquish Malgosha (voice by Rachel House), the Nether’s ruler, who aims to plunder the Overworld and its riches using an orb. Concurrently, in reality, Marlene (Jennifer Coolidge), fresh from a divorce, finds love and bakes bread with the villager Nitwit (voiced by Matt Berry).
A Minecraft Movie: Block Party Edition is now available to stream exclusively on Max.
