Okay, so 2026 hasn’t been amazing for Game Pass so far. Honestly, only two games that launched on Game Pass have even cracked the top 20 for the year, and they’re pretty low on the list – smaller titles, really. It feels like we haven’t gotten that one huge, must-play game right when it comes out yet, and we’re almost through the first three months! The other games added have been solid, don’t get me wrong, but as an Ultimate subscriber paying $30 a month, I’m really hoping for those big day-one releases. April doesn’t look much better, but I’m hearing May 2026 could be a game-changer. Fingers crossed!
Xbox Game Pass subscribers have two major games to look forward to in May 2026: Forza Horizon 6 and Subnautica 2. Both titles will be available on Game Pass the moment they launch. While other games like Kiln and Mixtape from Xbox Game Studios are also confirmed for May, Forza Horizon 6 and Subnautica 2 are expected to be the biggest releases. More games could be added to the lineup between now and then.
Forza Horizon 6
Forza Horizon 6 is the latest installment in the hugely popular Forza Horizon series, developed by Playground Games. This time, the open-world racing action takes place in Japan. Forza Horizon has become known for both critical acclaim and strong sales, a combination few other Xbox games have achieved recently. It will be released on May 19th and will be immediately available to players with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.
Subnautica 2
After a successful launch in 2018, with high ratings and millions of sales, a sequel to Subnautica has been highly anticipated. Subnautica 2 will initially be available on PC and Xbox Series X as an early access game. While it’s expected to release sometime in May, a specific date hasn’t been announced yet.
I’m so excited for both Forza Horizon 6 and Subnautica 2! Forza is going to be $70 when it comes out, and Subnautica 2 will probably be around $30 to $50, though they haven’t said for sure yet. But the best part is, if you have Xbox Game Pass, you’ll save at least $100 on both of them, which is awesome!
