Another Marvel Cinematic Universe actor may have just confirmed their return in Avengers: Doomsday.
Why do fans think Brie Larson is teasing a Captain Marvel return?
On November 4th, Brie Larson posted a photo on her Instagram Story with the simple message, “VOTED!” However, a smaller caption and accompanying emoji caught fans’ attention. She wrote, “Ignore the wig 🤫,” referring to a long, blonde hairstyle. This wig closely resembles the look Captain Marvel had in the recent Marvel movie, The Marvels (2023), sparking speculation among fans.
Brie Larson subtly highlighted a wig, a detail most of her fans probably wouldn’t have noticed, leading many to speculate she’s hinting at a return as Captain Marvel in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. Even though filming for Doomsday finished in September, there’s expected to be additional shooting, and Larson could be participating this week.

Brie Larson first played Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel, in the 2019 film Captain Marvel and later reprised the role in Avengers: Endgame that same year. After brief appearances in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) and Ms. Marvel (2022), she co-starred in The Marvels alongside Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani. If she appears in Doomsday, it would be her sixth time playing the popular superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Just after Brie Larson hinted at returning as Captain Marvel, Simu Liu, known for his role in Doomsday, suggested to The Hollywood Reporter that he filmed scenes for the next Avengers movie with several cast members who haven’t been publicly confirmed by Marvel Studios yet.
In addition to Pedro Pascal’s expected role, other popular actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe—like Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, and Hayley Atwell—are rumored to be in Avengers: Doomsday, though their appearances haven’t been officially confirmed.
Avengers: Doomsday, directed by the Russo Brothers, is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 18, 2026, as the latest installment in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
