Tom Holland isn’t the only returning star for the new *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* movie. Several familiar faces will appear, including Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk. A well-known Spider-Man villain is also making a comeback. Michael Mando first played Mac Gargan, also known as Scorpion, in the 2017 film *Spider-Man: Homecoming*. While a scene after the credits hinted at his return, fans haven’t seen the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years. That’s about to change with *Brand New Day*, and photos have just been released showing Mando back on set.
Recently, photos surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) from the set of Brand New Day. The MCU Film News account shared pictures of the actor, wearing a white outfit and sitting on what looks like a helicopter. The photos appear to have been taken during a break in filming, as the actor is seen smiling and chatting with the crew. You can view the images below.

What Is Scorpion’s Role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
Scorpion is confirmed to appear in the upcoming *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* movie. While the film is expected to include several villains, reports suggest some will only have brief appearances in a montage showing what Spider-Man has been doing since *Spider-Man: No Way Home*. Recent speculation indicated Scorpion won’t be a primary villain, meaning he likely won’t have a significant role. Many fans would be disappointed by this, as Scorpion is a well-known Spider-Man enemy with the potential to be a major focus – a possibility hinted at by the events in *Homecoming*.
Ever since joining the cast of the *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* project, actor Mando has been dropping hints online about his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically teasing a new costume for his character. Fans think these hints suggest his character, Mac Gargan, might become the MCU’s version of Venom, based on comic book covers Mando has been sharing. The idea stems from a piece of the Venom symbiote left on Earth-616 at the end of *No Way Home*, which many believe will be revisited. It’s speculated that the symbiote could bond with Mac Gargan, drawn to his anger and desire for revenge against Spider-Man. This would allow the MCU to introduce Venom without immediately restarting the story of Eddie Brock, who was recently portrayed by Tom Hardy in the *Venom* films.
The outfit worn by the Mandalorian is interesting because similar clothing has appeared on prisoners in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically at Rikers Island. It also looks a lot like the costume he briefly wore in the post-credits scene of *Homecoming*. This might suggest a scene where a prisoner transfer goes wrong, possibly with the villain Scorpion causing a helicopter crash to help prisoners escape. That could then lead to Spider-Man arriving to stop the escape and deal with the chaos.
Fans are hoping Scorpion has a significant role in *Brand New Day*, despite rumors suggesting otherwise. We’re eager to see if any more photos of the character on set appear, which could give us a better idea of his part in the movie. Throughout production, unofficial videos and photos have surfaced, hinting at action scenes filmed on the streets of New York City. Marvel is doing its best to keep details secret, but it’s difficult with photographers constantly monitoring the filming process. Hopefully, the next batch of images will reveal Scorpion in action.
