
A movie based on the popular Metal Gear Solid video game series is officially happening, and plans for its development have been revealed.
Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the directors of Final Destination: Bloodlines, are adapting the groundbreaking video game created by legendary developer Hideo Kojima.
This movie is just the beginning of a larger agreement between the directors and Sony Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Avi and Ari Arad, a father-son producing team, will oversee the film’s production.
Lipovsky and Stein expressed their excitement about partnering with Sony’s talented leadership team. They shared that their previous collaborations with various Sony teams impressed them with the creativity, care, and enthusiasm shown by everyone they spoke with.

They explained that Metal Gear Solid was a truly innovative game, a cinematic achievement that completely changed the world of video games. They expressed their excitement and privilege in being able to recreate Hideo Kojima’s famous characters and memorable game world.
Sanford Panitch, president of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group, praised Zach and Adam as incredibly talented directors and producers, known for their captivating stories and visual style. He expressed Sony’s excitement about partnering with them on future projects across all of its film divisions and welcoming them to the studio.
Lipovsky and Stein are developing two projects: an animated Venom film for Sony Pictures Animation and a brand new, large-scale science fiction story called The Earthling.

Metal Gear Solid, originally launched in 1998, is an action-adventure game where you play as a special forces operative. The game centers around a powerful weapon capable of launching nuclear strikes. Players control Solid Snake, a retired and incredibly skilled soldier known for his stealth tactics, who is the main character of the series.
