Metro 4’s Cancelled 2022 Build Has Allegedly Leaked, Featured Fully Open World – Rumor

Just shortly after rumors surfaced about a possible announcement of a new Metro game next week, a reportedly unfinished 2022 version of Metro 4 has leaked online.

The game, said to be a 120 GB download, follows the story of the hunter from the world of Metro 2033, taking place between January 2033 and December 2034. It’s expected to feature a completely open world where players can revisit areas they’ve already explored. Players will also be able to craft different kinds of ammunition, improve their suit, and complete side quests like investigating rumors throughout the various stations.

Reports suggest that Khan and Bourbon were planned to be central characters. Artyom, who has been the main character in previous games, is said to appear in the new game without any spoken lines.

While the fourth main Metro game was announced in 2020, we haven’t heard much about it since. 4A Games has explained how the war in Ukraine affected development, and mentioned the next installment will have a more intense and somber storyline.

It’s unclear if the recent development footage showcased an existing or updated version of the game. 4A Games is also creating a multiplayer component, but they haven’t shared any specifics yet. A new State of Play event is rumored for April 16th, and we might get a look at the next Metro game then. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
