Timothée Chalamet is sparking a supreme debate about classical theater.

As a huge fan of Marty Supreme, I was really disappointed to hear about the backlash he’s getting. Apparently, some major opera companies – even the Metropolitan Opera – are upset with his recent comments. He simply compared keeping opera alive to trying to get people to go to the movies, and now he’s facing a lot of criticism for it. It’s a shame, because I think he just wanted to highlight how important it is to attract new audiences to the art form.

I really respect filmmakers and actors who publicly champion movie theaters and specific genres – I’ve even tried to do it myself! But honestly, I also believe that if a movie is truly great – something like Barbie or Oppenheimer – people will find a way to see it and will enthusiastically share their love for it, no matter what. It’s like they’ll make it a point to go out and experience it, and they’ll be proud to tell everyone about it.

He explained he wasn’t interested in careers like ballet or opera where the focus is on preserving something that’s lost its audience. He quickly added that he has a lot of respect for people who work in those fields.

On March 5th, the Metropolitan Opera addressed comments made by Timothée Chalamet with an Instagram video. The video showcased the many people who work behind the scenes to create a stage production – like musicians, costume designers, and set builders – and offered a different perspective on what Timothée had said.

The organization acknowledged opera and ballet fans, displaying a message on screen to that effect. They then added a caption directed at Timothée Chalamet, suggesting the message was particularly for him.

Other opera companies also shared their thoughts, with LA Opera noting the success of their current production of Akhnaten.

The Metropolitan Opera responded to Timothée Chalamet on Instagram, playfully apologizing that they couldn’t offer him free tickets to their production of Akhnaten because it’s almost sold out. They did mention a few seats are still available if he’s interested in buying them quickly.

The Royal Ballet and Opera in the U.K. also extended an invitation to the Oscar-nominated actor to see a performance live, emphasizing that their shows regularly draw large crowds who appreciate the unique experience of live theater.

In a March 6th Instagram video, they wrote to @tchalamet, letting him know they’re open to working with him if he changes his mind.

Timothée recently told Matthew about some harsh criticism he got on a movie set. A coworker had questioned his skills while they were filming.

The actor, who is 30 years old, recently shared a story with his Interstellar co-star, as reported by Variety on February 21st. He described a fellow actor as rude, recalling that the man questioned his training. When the 30-year-old explained he hadn’t attended drama school, the other actor implied he wasn’t properly trained, despite them both being part of the same acting group.

Timothée didn’t seem bothered by the comment, likely because he’s become skilled at ignoring unwanted attention.

I’ve always warned people to be careful around those who offer a lot of advice but don’t take their own. They seem to enjoy giving advice more than receiving it. It gets to a point where you can’t even hear what they’re saying because they’re just showing off.

I was reading that the reality star told The New York Times she’d honestly try anything to look younger! It’s wild how dedicated she is to maintaining her appearance, she really said she’s up for just about anything.

Honestly, I’m such a fan, and she’s amazing. She actually said back in June that if someone told her she’d look younger by eating… well, let’s just say something truly awful every single day, she’d seriously consider it. She wasn’t kidding – she said she might actually do it!

In a July 2022 interview with Allure magazine, Kim explained she was mostly kidding when she made the comment, but admitted it wasn’t a completely awful idea.

Kim thought for a moment and then said, ‘Honestly, I’d probably eat something awful if someone promised it would make me look younger – even if it meant eating a bowl of poop every day.’

Asked how much she could eat, she said, “Perhaps just a small bite.” She added that a full bowl would be too much for her.
