Any film about Michael Jackson must address the serious allegations of child abuse that arose in the 1990s and damaged his reputation. The accusations made by the Jordan Chandler family in 1993 caused a huge public scandal and led to a large financial settlement. Director Antoine Fuqua is known for his work on intense, morally complex films like Training Day and The Equalizer, suggesting he’s prepared to handle this difficult subject matter. Early drafts of the script, written by John Logan, reportedly dedicated a significant portion to the legal battle with the Chandler family, indicating a willingness to confront these accusations head-on instead of avoiding them.

As a huge movie lover, I was really excited about the Michael biopic, but it sounds like things hit a major snag during post-production. Apparently, after they’d already finished filming, producers discovered a clause in the old settlement Michael Jackson had with the Chandler family. This clause basically prevented them from showing or even mentioning the family in the movie, and because the Jackson estate is so involved in the film, it meant some really important scenes couldn’t be used.
