Michael Madsen’s family is mourning his sudden death.
Following the discovery of the “Reservoir Dogs” actor’s passing in his Malibu residence on July 3, at the age of 67, Virginia Madsen wrote a heartfelt tribute for her late elder sibling.
Virginia penned a statement to Variety on July 3, expressing that her brother, Michael, is no longer on the stage. She described him as a man who was both thunderous and velvety, a mischievous soul cloaked in tenderness. A poet masquerading as an outlaw, a devoted father, a cherished son, and a loving brother – all complex characters, yet bound together by love’s indelible imprint.
The actress from Candyman later highlighted that Michael, who had seven surviving offspring, was not merely a screen persona but a multidimensional individual.
She went on to say, “We’re not grieving over a well-known personality; we’re not grieving over a myth, but a real person with blood and a fierce spirit. This individual lived life forcefully, brightly, and passionately, like a flame. They have left behind echoes – rough, brilliant, unique – part legend, part lullaby.
As much as he’s known worldwide for his legendary acting in “Kill Bill: Vol. 2”, Virginia here, I’m still left with memories of him as my jovial, big-brother figure from back in our carefree childhood days.
I’ll miss our private humor, the spontaneous giggles, the unique sounds of him,” she said in conclusion. “I’ll miss the boy he used to be, before he became a legend; I miss my older brother. A big thank you to those who have shown their love and shared memories with us. Eventually, we’ll decide how to honor his life, but for now, we hold each other close, letting the quiet moments speak for themselves.
Virginia’s touching homage was made only a few hours following the confirmation of the collaborator with Quentin Tarantino, Ron Smith, to NBC News about his passing.
Over the past two years, Michael Madsen has been making remarkable strides in independent film, with upcoming movies like Resurrection Road, Concessions, and Cookbook for Southern Housewives. His managers Susan Ferris and Smith, as well as publicist Liz Rodriguez, expressed their excitement about this new phase in his life to NBC 4 Los Angeles. They also mentioned that Madsen was working on a new book titled Tears For My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems, which is currently being edited.

As reported by the source, officials discovered the actor’s lifeless body in his Malibu residence following a 911 call earlier that day. Subsequently, it was confirmed that Madsen passed away due to a cardiac incident.
The statement went on to say that Michael Madsen, a highly recognized actor in Hollywood, will be deeply mourned by numerous individuals.
