Microsoft Taking Banjo-Kazooie Pitches, Toys for Bob and Moon Studios Interested – Rumor

Excitedly speaking as a fan, despite letting go of nearly 9,100 team members and halting several projects, Microsoft is undeniably gazing towards the future. Not only do they have over 40 game titles in active development, but it’s rumored that they are also open to pitches for new ones – even considering a revival of the classic Banjo-Kazooie series!

As a dedicated fan, I’ve picked up some exciting news straight from VGC’s Andy Robinson on their latest podcast – he mentioned that there’s been talk about pitches being considered to reboot the platformer! The last installment we had was “Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts,” which, while innovative, didn’t sit well with many of us due to its departure from what made the series so special.

Not only that, but it’s also been rumored that Robinson has learned about some well-known game developers who are considering taking charge of a new venture. Interestingly enough, Toys for Bob, famous for the game Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time!, is said to be eager to participate. Additionally, Moon Studios, recognized for the Ori series and currently developing an action RPG titled No Rest for the Wicked, has also expressed interest in this project.

It was mentioned that there’s often discussion about creating a cartoon or film based on Banjo-Kazooie. Despite lengthy discussions about potential interest, it appears that Rare was more focused on developing new projects. Gregg Mayles, who worked at the studio for 35 years before leaving and was directing the cancelled Everwild, has been a strong advocate for moving forward rather than dwelling on past interests.

As a diehard Banjo-Kazooie enthusiast, I’m keeping my fingers crossed about the possibility of a new game. However, Microsoft’s development challenges so far have cast a bit of uncertainty over this prospect. Let’s all keep an eye out for future announcements to see if our beloved bear and bird duo will return to our screens once more!
