Mike Myers revealed that a fourth Austin Powers film is in the works, following his recent return as Dr. Evil in a new advertisement.
During an appearance on Trevor Noah’s World Cup Watch Party, Austin Myers confirmed that a new movie is in the works, though he didn’t share any specifics.
He’s repeatedly said he’d consider making another movie in the funny spy series, and while there aren’t confirmed plans yet, this news is definitely encouraging for his fans.
As recently as 2022, Mike Myers expressed enthusiasm about making another film, and Jay Roach, who directed the original movies, said in 2020 he’d be open to a sequel.
The Austin Powers series, a comedic take on James Bond films, began in 1997 with International Man of Mystery. It continued with The Spy Who Shagged Me in 1999, and concluded – for now – with Goldmember in 2002.
While it would likely be quite some time before another installment arrived, Hollywood is currently full of reboots and revivals. The recent relaunch of the Scary Movie franchise shows this trend – it’s a comedy series from around the same period that’s been brought back.
In a new Verizon ad, Mike Myers reprised his role as Dr. Evil, joined by his fellow cast members Seth Green, Rob Lowe, and Mindy Sterling to cook up another mischievous plan.
He planned to start a company, Menace Mobile, deliberately designed with incredibly complicated and frustrating plans and pricing. However, his team surprised him by already switching to a new plan with Verizon.
Yesterday, Mike Myers gave fans a taste of one of his iconic characters again with the release of the first trailer for the new Shrek movie.
