Minecraft Dungeons 2 Announced for Consoles and PC, Out in 2026

Okay, so the rumors are true! Xbox just officially announced Minecraft Dungeons 2! I’m super excited because Mojang and Double Eleven are building it, and it’s coming to pretty much everything – Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and even both Nintendo Switches in 2026. The best part? It’ll be on Game Pass from day one, and it’s Play Anywhere, so I can start on my Xbox and pick up right where I left off on PC. Bring it on!

The game is now available to wishlist on Steam. While specific details are limited, the story centers around players facing a new threat and embarking on a quest to save a world in danger, complete with challenging encounters and unexplored areas. Thanks to information discovered last year, players can expect to explore several new zones, including Honeycomb Fields, a desert region, and a forest.

The first game came out in 2020 and received a Metascore of 70 from 52 critics. It’s different from Minecraft; instead of building, it’s an action RPG played from an overhead perspective, similar to Diablo. Players can unlock skills, collect loot, and battle enemies. By September 2023, over 25 million people had played the game, but the development team had already started working on new projects and released one last update.

It’s now confirmed that a sequel was in development. The big questions are: will it be better than the first game and fix its problems? Could it double down on the addictive gameplay of games like Diablo for dedicated players? And with Xbox already owning Diablo 4, how will this new game fit into the market? Only time will tell, but there’s definitely interest in it. We’ll share more details as they become available.
