Cassie Donegan has a new crown.
On September 7th, during the event held in Orlando, Florida, Miss New York was promoted to Miss America 2026. This marks the 8th time a representative from New York has claimed the crown in the pageant’s 104-year history.
In a statement after winning on September 8, Cassie expressed that Miss America has historically offered a strong launchpad for women with aspirations, enabling them to convert their dreams into reality. She feels privileged to be part of an organization offering scholarships, assistance, and a podium for female leadership, and is profoundly thankful for the opportunity to embody this mission.
In a recent victory, the Miss America program granted Cassie, aged 27, more than $70,000 in scholarships. This generous award will assist her in financing her undergraduate studies as well as her future endeavors towards a master’s degree.
The recently crowned Miss America triumphed against her four primary competitors: Sadie Schiermeyer from Texas, Paris Richardson hailing from Florida, Audrey Kittila representing Georgia, and Emma Terry from Alabama.
In July, Cassie was crowned Miss New York, succeeding previous titleholder Abby Quammen.
In her own words, Cassie stated, “I can’t find the right words to capture what this journey means to me, but I’ll begin by saying thank you.” She continued, “Preparations for Miss America are now in motion, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to represent New York in this role. This state, with its diversity, determination, and resilience, is my home.
Indeed, Cassie assured she was ready to compete for the bigger title this month.
She expressed great joy, stating, “I’m incredibly honored to embody it, and I will give it my all.” She further mentioned, “To have the backing of a state board as remarkable as mine on this journey is what every girl aspires for-and I consider myself extraordinarily fortunate that this is my true experience.

With her most recent victory, Cassie will now represent the Miss America Opportunity officially as a national brand ambassador. She’ll be traveling across the nation to advocate for the brand’s values.
