Okay, so I’ve been keeping a close eye on the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie, and honestly, it feels like it could finally give this franchise the proper big-screen treatment it deserves. With Nicholas Galitzine stepping into the role of He-Man and Jared Leto as Skeletor, the casting alone got me hyped. But the marketing campaign has really kicked into gear lately, and everything I’ve seen so far – the first glimpses, the added details – has just built up the anticipation. As it stands, this is shaping up to be one of the biggest, most exciting blockbusters of 2026, and a fantastic way to reboot Masters of the Universe for a whole new generation of fans.
The trailer for the new Masters of the Universe movie already showed some beloved characters returning, and now it looks like another familiar face will be joining them. The fan site He-Mania reports that Orko will make a brief appearance in the film, which fans are sure to appreciate. This is especially noteworthy because the 1987 Masters of the Universe movie left Orko out, instead introducing Gwildor, a character that wasn’t well-received. It appears this new movie is aiming to fix that omission.
Orko’s 1987 Absence Was An Insult to the Character

Like many characters from the He-Man universe, Orko first appeared as a toy in Mattel’s action figure line, along with a short comic. He then became popular in the main comic book series and gained even more fans after being featured in the classic He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon. Surprisingly, though, Orko didn’t appear in the 1987 live-action movie.
As a big fan of the original Masters of the Universe cartoon, I always heard the story of why Orko didn’t make it into the 1987 movie. Apparently, bringing a character who flies and does magic to life on screen back then was just too difficult and expensive with the technology they had. It was a real risk! So, instead of Orko, they created Gwildor as the funny, small character. Honestly, Gwildor didn’t really land with fans, and a lot of us who loved Orko in the cartoon were pretty disappointed he wasn’t included.
A report from the fan site He-Mania suggests the new Masters of the Universe reboot, planned for 2026, will include Orko, even if it’s just a small part. While it’s not certain if the report is accurate, the fact that a well-known fan site is confidently reporting this is a good sign. Fans will have to wait until the movie comes out to know for sure, but this adds to the growing excitement surrounding the reboot.
