The anime series Mission: Yozakura Family, based on the popular manga by Hitsuji Gondaira, is getting a second season in April 2026. The manga, which began in 2019, is known for its heartwarming story about family, mixed with action and comedy – a common style for series in Weekly Shonen Jump. The anime adaptation premiered in April 2024 and ran for 27 episodes, with the announcement of Season 2 made through a promotional video. The story follows Taiyo Asano, who became shy and withdrawn after a tragic car accident took his family, and Mutsumi Yozakura, his loyal childhood friend who remained by his side.
When Taiyo and Mutsumi get into serious trouble because of Mutsumi’s family, their school principal, Kyoichiro Yozakura, makes a surprising offer: marriage. He believes Taiyo is a danger to Mutsumi, and that marrying her is the only way to keep them both safe. As the story progresses, things get chaotic as Taiyo accepts the arrangement to protect Mutsumi and begins training to become a spy. Fans were excited in December when the anime released its first key visual and teaser on the 15th, followed by another teaser on December 20th, 2025, introducing a new character.

A new teaser for Season 2 of the anime was revealed at Jump Festa 2026, a major annual anime and manga convention hosted by Shueisha. The event showcases upcoming projects from popular Shonen series and focuses on Shueisha’s magazines like Weekly Shonen Jump, Jump Square, V Jump, Saikyo Jump, and the Shonen Jump+ online platform. On the first day, the voice actors for Taiyo Asano (Reiji Kawashima), Mutsumi Yozakura (Kaede Hondo), Kyoichiro Yozakura (Katsuyuki Konishi), and Niba Yozakura (Akari Kito) were present to promote the anime.
The manga finished in January of this year, and the last of its 29 volumes became available in Japan in March 2025. As of December 2025, only 20 volumes have been published in English. You can buy both print and digital copies on Viz Media’s website, or read the chapters there and on the official Manga Plus app. The anime is currently available to stream on Hulu and Disney+, so be sure to watch the first season before the second one comes out.
