The second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters arrives on Apple TV on February 27th, continuing the story of the MonsterVerse with Godzilla and Kong as central figures. After introducing several new monsters in the first season, the show is hinting at a new giant creature with roots in the original Japanese Godzilla universe. The latest trailer suggests this new threat, arriving from another world, will challenge the monsters already causing chaos. Let’s explore who this mysterious “Titan X” could be, drawing from Godzilla’s long history of foes.
I’ve been watching the teasers for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and it looks like they’re gearing up to introduce “Titan X” into the MonsterVerse. While this could be a completely new monster, there’s a good chance it’s connected to a classic creature from Toho’s history. I noticed that “X” has a lot of tentacles, which immediately reminded me of Biollante, a monster who first appeared in a Godzilla movie back in 1989. That creature was actually a unique fusion – a rose plant brought to life with Godzilla’s DNA. Since the show hints that “Titan X” comes from another world, if they do use Biollante, it seems they’ll be giving her a new backstory. But Biollante isn’t the only possibility, of course.
Besides Ghidorah, other monsters could be the basis for this new threat. Destroyah, a creature born from the ocean depths and accompanied by terrifying crustaceans, shares similarities with the monster seen in the latest trailer for “Titan X.” Monster X, the villain from “Godzilla: Final Wars,” is also a possibility. Like Destroyah, it only appeared in one film, and its design – a bone-covered beast with three heads – echoes elements of King Ghidorah.
Godzilla’s Mysterious Future

I’m so excited for everything Godzilla! While Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is a huge deal for the MonsterVerse, it’s not the only Godzilla goodness coming our way in 2026. Later this year, on November 6th, Godzilla Minus Zero – the sequel to the incredible Godzilla Minus One – is finally hitting theaters in Japan, North America, and everywhere else! The best part? Takashi Yamazaki, the original director, is back to build on the world he created in that Oscar-winning film, though a lot of the details are still under wraps!
The MonsterVerse will expand in 2027 with the new film, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova. While details are still largely unknown – similar to Godzilla Minus Zero – rumors suggest the introduction of “Space Godzilla” into the series. It looks like Godzilla and other giant monsters have a promising future in both Japan and North America.
