Monster Movie Fans Can Finally Watch This Long-Running Franchise All in One Place (Including a Crossover)

It can be hard to find all the movies in a series in one place with so many streaming services, but a long-running series of monster movies has just found a new home. The monster movie genre has given us some truly famous characters, like Frankenstein and Godzilla. In the late 1990s, a new scary series emerged, and recently it connected with another well-known horror character.

As a big fan of cheesy creature features, I was thrilled to see that Tubi now has almost the entire *Lake Placid* series! These movies, created by David E. Kelley, are all about giant, man-eating crocodiles terrorizing a lake in Maine, and the hilarious attempts to stop them. Starting September 1st, I could stream the first five films – the original *Lake Placid* from 1999, *Lake Placid 2* (2007), *Lake Placid 3* (2010), *Lake Placid: The Final Chapter* (2012), and even the awesome crossover *Lake Placid vs. Anaconda* from 2015. Unfortunately, the newest one, *Lake Placid: Legacy* from 2018, isn’t on Tubi yet. If you want to see that one, you’ll need a Hulu + Live TV subscription.

Why You Should Watch the Lake Placid Movies

Don’t expect the *Lake Placid* movies to be as scary or well-made as *Jaws*. All six films in the series have received negative reviews from both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, with the first movie from 1999 getting the best scores at 47% from critics and 37% from viewers. However, they can still be enjoyable, particularly since they are currently available to stream for free.

These movies are delightfully silly horror-comedies, full of clever lines, ridiculous characters, and over-the-top scenes. They happily embrace the classic monster-movie formula, but with a hilariously exaggerated twist. The cast is great, especially when White plays the hilariously blunt Delores Bickerman. While the sequels aren’t quite as good as the first film, the original *Lake Placid* has become a cult favorite, and the whole series is a fun, lighthearted watch if you’re looking for a goofy creature feature.

Other Horror Movies Now on Tubi

On September 1st, Tubi added a bunch of horror movies to its streaming library, including the Lake Placid series. Other new additions include Evil Dead (2013), the classic Fright Night (1985), Halloween (2018), I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), Paranormal Activity, Scream 4, and The Cabin in the Woods.

Tubi is expanding its horror selection next month! Starting October 1st, viewers can stream titles like *30 Days of Night*, *30 Days of Night: Dark Days*, *An American Werewolf In London*, *The Hills Have Eyes*, *Insidious: The Last Key*, the original *The Omen* (from 1976), *The Ring*, and the first three *Saw* movies. Even more scary movies will be added to Tubi throughout October.

The platform includes a selection of movies perfect for families, including titles like *Coraline*, *Monster House*, *Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark*, and *Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride*.
