A fresh collection of timeless Digimon movies is at last arriving on Blu-ray, twenty years following their initial television premieres in the U.S. As Digimon gears up for its upcoming phase in anime with the launch of a new series, Digimon Beatbreak, slated for October this year as part of the Fall 2025 anime lineup, it’s an ideal moment to celebrate how much the franchise has evolved. Given that the franchise recently marked the 25th anniversary of its first anime broadcast, fans can now honor this journey in a unique and exciting manner with a new Blu-ray release from Discotek Media.
Disco Media stands out as one of the top choices for anime enthusiasts due to their dedication to re-releasing classic anime titles in high-quality Blu-ray and DVD formats. They’ve demonstrated this commitment by reviving the beloved ‘Digimon’ series with new releases that include both the original TV series and movies. In fact, they’ve already impressed fans with their work on the initial releases. Now, exciting news is on the horizon: Disco Media is working on a second collection of ‘Digimon’ movies, which will feature three previously unseen films that originally aired in the US back in 2005. Here’s a sneak peek at a new clip from ‘Digimon the Movies Collection 2’. Enjoy!
What Is Digimon The Movies Collection 2?
Fans have been eagerly awaiting it for quite some time, but finally, Digimon Movies Collection 2 is set to be released in the United States!
— Discotek Media (@discotekmedia) August 9, 2025
The first volume of “Digimon Movies Collection” includes remastered versions of “Digimon Adventure,” “Digimon Adventure: Our War Game!,” “Digimon Hurricane Touchdown!,” and the English dub of “Digimon: The Movie.” In the second collection, you’ll find the next three films in the series. Both Japanese and English language audio will be available, and the films will be presented in high definition for this new Blu-ray release. Extras like TV spots and promos are also included. This marks a fresh start for the franchise!
The collection titled “Digimon Movies Collection 2” includes three films: “Digimon Adventure 02: Diaboromon’s Revenge”, “Digimon Tamers: Clash of the Heroes”, and “Digimon Tamers: Runaway Locomon”. This announcement is particularly exciting for fans of “Digimon Tamers”, as it signifies one of the initial Blu-ray releases for this part of the series. However, what makes this news most thrilling is that these movies haven’t been fully appreciated since their original airing on Jetix in 2005 within the United States. For many, it will be a nostalgic trip back to the past.
Why These Digimon Movies Are Special
These films were dubbed under unique circumstances, as they initially aired in Japan during the early 2000s alongside their respective TV series. However, they didn’t premiere in the U.S. until later. As part of a special event on Disney’s active Jetix block (which was broadcast on ABC Family in the U.S.), Disney reunited many of the original voice actors for another round of dubbing.
By 2005, these movies were both dubbed and distributed, wrapping up a significant portion of the original broadcast period for “Digimon”. Unlike other large franchises such as “Pokemon” which managed to premiere at least six films in cinemas before shifting to direct-to-DVD releases, “Digimon” only had its initial movie run in theaters, with subsequent movies not getting a theatrical release.
