Digital Eclipse and Atari have unveiled a fresh trailer for the forthcoming “Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection“. They’ve made it clear that side stories like “Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero” and “Mortal Kombat: Special Forces” will also be included in this collection.
In addition to showcasing the main features, the trailer for Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection also spotlights other valuable content that will be included. This includes detailed timelines tracing the evolution of each game and the franchise as a whole. These timelines incorporate interviews from developers of various titles and creators such as John Tobias.
Enthusiasts of gaming history can additionally explore items such as top-tier digital copies of vintage concept artwork, as well as complete 3D replicas of the arcade cabinets where several editions of the popular game series, Mortal Kombat, were initially designed.
Regarding gameplay, the trailer demonstrates an innovative training mode that helps players master intricate moves similar to those found in traditional fighting games, even showcasing fatalities for each character at different stages. Following this, it provides a tour of other features offered by Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, such as character backstories, music, and online multiplayer with rollback netcode.
Digital Eclipse has previously confirmed a variety of titles that will be part of the collection, featuring both original Mortal Kombat series and their spin-offs. These include Mortal Kombat from 1992, Mortal Kombat 2 from 1993, Mortal Kombat 3 from 1995, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 also from 1995, Mortal Kombat 4 from 1997, the handheld version Mortal Kombat: Advance from 2001, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance from 2002, and Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition from 2003.
In addition to the main game, the compilation will feature various adaptations of the same classic “Mortal Kombat” series. For example, it includes rare games like the Game Boy Advance version of “Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance”, and uncommon releases such as “Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3”.
This month, it was announced that you can now pre-order the physical versions of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and even the rumored Switch 2. Besides the standard edition, there’s also a Deluxe Edition and a Collector’s Edition in the works.
The Collector’s Edition stands out as something remarkable. Pre-orders are now open on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo’s two platforms. This special edition includes exclusive items such as a Premium Collector’s Box, a hardcover book containing both art and lore, a set of pins featuring Sub-Zero and Scorpion, commemorative arcade tokens with an acrylic display stand, and a controller holder in the form of Goro’s original stop motion figure.
It is worth mentioning that the PC version will only include a Steam code for the game, whereas the other versions will come with physical discs or game carts.
The “Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection” is expected to arrive on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and an upcoming Nintendo Switch model. Unfortunately, a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet; speculation points towards its arrival by the end of September, though this isn’t confirmed.
