The 2021 Mortal Kombat movie is now available to watch for free! This is great news for fans, especially since Mortal Kombat II just came out in theaters. The sequel is being received similarly to the first movie – both have comparable scores on Rotten Tomatoes (the new movie has 65 and 90, while the original scored 55 and 85). In fact, Mortal Kombat II has already achieved a record score for the franchise on Rotten Tomatoes.
If you’re planning to see the new movie but haven’t watched the first one, you can now get it for free through Microsoft Rewards! As reported by Wario64, you can earn a digital copy by activating a ‘punch card’ and completing a few simple tasks. These include watching a trailer for the new movie, looking up showtimes, downloading a Bing wallpaper, learning about Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition, listening to the new movie’s soundtrack on Spotify, and doing seven searches on Bing. Since you have to wait a day between each search, it will take at least seven days to finish everything, but you have up to 53 days to complete all the tasks.

Skipping the First Mortal Kombat Movie
The Mortal Kombat films are known for their action, not their complex stories, but the second movie directly continues the story from the first. While you can watch the second film on its own, the first one sets everything up, and you’ll get a much better understanding of the story if you watch them in order.
If you weren’t a fan of the first Mortal Kombat movie, you’ll be pleased to hear the sequel is a significant improvement and stays much closer to the spirit of the video games. The first film sometimes felt like a standard action movie simply using Mortal Kombat characters, but this new installment truly feels like a Mortal Kombat experience.
