Mrs Brown’s Boys Season 5: BBC Confirms August 1st Return with Four New Episodes

Mrs Brown’s Boys fans can finally get excited with the show’s return date finally confirmed.

In the upcoming season, Brendan O’Carroll, known for playing the lead role in the Irish sitcom with his actual family members, will once again don the permed wig and cardigan to reprise the character Agnes. His wife, Jennifer Gibney, returns as their on-screen daughter, Cathy.

Following the filming of the series in Glasgow during early May, the latest escapades of the group will soon be aired.

Fortunately, there’s no need for patience as fans can catch up on what they’ve been doing by tuning in to Mrs Brown’s Boys starting this coming Friday, August 1st, at 9:30 pm.

Additionally, you’ll be able to stream the complete series on BBC iPlayer, allowing you to watch them all consecutively whenever you feel like it.

The series will be comprised of five episodes in total.

It might come as a shock that we’re currently on the fifth season of this popular show, as no fresh episodes have been released since September 2023. However, it remains a beloved series among fans, even earning a National Television Award in September of the previous year.

Last year saw the continuation of Mrs Brown’s Boys annual Christmas specials, keeping up the tradition that began on BBC One in 2011.

Originally scheduled for Christmas Day, the program was later moved to 11:05 PM, resulting in it no longer being one of the most-viewed shows of the day. This shift paved the way for Gavin and Stacey: The Finale, Wallace and Gromit’s Vengeance Most Fowl, and The King’s Speech to take the top spots instead.

Mrs Brown’s Boys airs on Friday 1st August at 9:30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
