The anime My Hero Academia recently showcased Midnight’s unique hero costume, offering a sneak peek into an upcoming story arc. Although the main My Hero Academia series concluded on television last year, the franchise continues with a prequel anime that began airing in 2024. This prequel explores the world of heroes before Izuku Midoriya’s time at U.A. Academy, and it’s about to delve into the enigmatic past of Shota Aizawa with a new flashback arc.
The anime series My Hero Academia: Vigilantes will begin adapting the ‘Aizawa School Days’ arc in its next episode. This arc delves into the previously unexplored past of the character Aizawa, offering fans a more complete understanding of his history. A highlight will be seeing Midnight’s unique hero costume come to life in animation, and a first look has just been released.
My Hero Academia Anime Debuts Midnight’s Wildest Hero Gear

Since the beginning of My Hero Academia, the design of Midnight’s hero costume has been controversial. It was revealed that her power involved spreading a powder by revealing her skin, which heavily influenced her hero persona and resulted in a very revealing outfit. While the anime adjusted her costume – adding colored tights to avoid appearing nude – this wasn’t even her most provocative look.
Fans will soon see that Midnight’s original hero costume at U.A. Academy was quite different from what she typically wears in the main series. Before she started wearing tights, her costume was much more revealing. This will be shown in upcoming episodes of the My Hero Academia: Vigilantes prequel arc, and it’s one of the many reasons why fans are excited to watch it.
What Is My Hero Academia’s School Days Arc?

The anime My Hero Academia: Vigilantes will begin its highly anticipated ‘Aizawa School Days’ arc in the next episode of season two. This arc is a major storyline from the prequel series. During the final battle in My Hero Academia, it was revealed that Kurogiri’s body once belonged to a friend of Shota Aizawa and Present Mic. However, the series didn’t fully explore the significance of this backstory, and this arc promises to do just that.
Because the main series featured so many characters, it didn’t have enough time to fully explore any one character’s story. That’s why Aizawa’s past is being detailed in a separate series. This prequel will connect to events in the original series and reveal the reasons behind Aizawa’s choices and how he became the hero we know.
