Authorities are following every possible lead in the search for Nancy Guthrie.
However, it’s been difficult to confirm some theories surrounding earlier doorbell camera images. These images, released during the investigation, suggest the suspect might have visited the 84-year-old victim’s home before she was taken.
In a statement released on February 23, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos explained that images from doorbell cameras, originally released as part of the investigation, show the suspect wearing different clothing at different times, sometimes with a backpack and sometimes without, according to TopMob News.
Regarding theories that the images show the suspect had scouted Nancy’s house before she disappeared on February 1st, the sheriff explained there were no dates or times on the photos. Because of this, any claim that the pictures were taken on different days is just guesswork.
The statement clarified that the investigation is still active and continuing, and emphasized that any final decisions will be based on solid, proven evidence and the known facts.
Chris explained that guessing or making claims without evidence doesn’t help an investigation move forward.
Police are still examining DNA found on gloves discovered near the home of Nancy Guthrie in Tucson, Arizona. However, they have already confirmed that Nancy’s family – including her daughters Savannah and Annie Guthrie, son Camron Guthrie, and their spouses – are not considered suspects in the case.

In a statement on February 16th, Chris emphasized that the Guthrie family has been fully cooperative and gracious throughout this case, and are, in fact, the victims. He stated that implying anything else is both inaccurate and insensitive, reiterating that they are simply victims.
Currently, the video from Nancy’s doorbell camera is still the most promising piece of evidence. The FBI’s forensic analysis has verified identifying features of the person in the footage.
According to the FBI, the suspect is a man around 5’9” to 5’10” tall with a medium build. He was seen in a video wearing a black ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack that holds about 25 liters.

The organization is offering a $100,000 reward to anyone who can help find Nancy or to help arrest and convict those responsible for her disappearance.
Savannah and her family are still publicly asking for help to bring their mother home safely.
The co-host of Today shared a video on Instagram on February 15th with the message, “Bring her home, it’s never too late to do the right thing.”

Nancy Guthrie, mother to Annie, Camron, and Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 p.m. on January 31st, according to police.

Police confirmed to Today that Nancy, age 84, was reported missing by her family on February 1st. A friend became worried when Nancy didn’t attend church that morning and alerted her family. After searching her property for about an hour, her children contacted authorities and filed a missing person report around noon.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos later explained the first steps of the investigation, which involved detectives specializing in homicides, at the victim’s home.
We don’t usually call the sheriff for situations like this, but the details coming from the house are really worrying,” he said at a press conference on February 2nd. “This case was different because of what officers described and what we discovered while examining the scene.
“This isn’t how things usually work,” Nanos explained. “Normally, our homicide team only investigates when there’s a death, a body to examine. In this case, we sent them out based solely on the information the surveyors provided.”

After looking into what happened, officials stated they think a crime occurred at Nancy’s house.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos stated that investigators have confirmed a crime scene after processing the location. He asked for the public’s help, noting that the community has consistently assisted in solving difficult cases and he hopes they will do so again.
The sheriff pointed out that Nancy had trouble walking—she couldn’t walk even a short distance on her own—which led him to suspect something wasn’t right about her disappearance.
As a lifestyle expert who often consults on sensitive cases, let me tell you, it’s clear to those of us looking at the evidence that she didn’t simply walk away on her own. The scene itself tells a story – there are details that strongly suggest she didn’t leave of her own volition. We’re confident something else happened.

The search for Nancy is still ongoing, and officials are concerned because she needs daily medication to stay healthy, and she likely doesn’t have it with her.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos explained that an 84-year-old woman under his care is facing serious health issues and urgently needs medication. Without it within 24 hours, her condition could become life-threatening.
We’re asking anyone with information about this – if you’ve seen or heard anything – to please get in touch. Call 911. We want to avoid another tragedy and really need the public’s help.
Although Nancy has had some health issues for a while, her mind remains sharp, according to Nanos.
According to Nanos, Nancy Guthrie is mentally sound and this isn’t related to dementia. She’s very alert and her family wants to emphasize she didn’t simply wander off; any physical limitations are simply due to her age.
With the search for Nancy still underway, Nanos expressed his wish for her to come home safely.
“I hope we find her safe and sound,” he emphasized, “but we cannot ignore what’s in front of us.”

The day after Nancy was reported missing, the anchor of the Today show shared how difficult this time is for her family.
As a close friend and supporter of the family, I want to share their gratitude for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and messages they’ve received. They told NBC’s morning show on February 2nd that their main priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely, and that’s what we’re all hoping for.
She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the case and asked anyone with information to please reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Once Savannah Guthrie learned her mother, Nancy, had been reported missing, her colleagues on the Today show immediately voiced their support publicly.
Jenna Bush Hager shared on the February 2nd episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that she and Nancy are close friends, saying, “We love Nancy. I know her personally.”
She continued, saying they were thinking of Savannah and her family and sending their prayers to everyone affected.
Meanwhile, Sheinelle Jones emphasized the importance of community during this difficult time.
She felt the show truly showcased the community at its finest when it asked viewers to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s department with any information related to the case, even if it seemed insignificant.
She added, “So we’re sending our prayers but we’re also sending our collective action.”
Before concluding the segment, both hosts continued, “We love you, Savannah.”

And Sunday Today anchor Willie Geist also urged fans to keep an eye out for Nancy.
On February 2nd, he posted on Instagram asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona. He also included the sheriff’s department’s phone number, stating that she was missing.
Savannah’s former colleague, Hoda Kotb, responded to the surprising announcement by posting a heartwarming picture of Savannah and Nancy together on the Today show set. In a simple message on Instagram from February 2nd, Hoda shared a red heart and praying hands emoji.

As a long-time follower of this case, I’ve been keeping up with all the updates. It’s unsettling to hear they’ve officially labeled Nancy’s home a crime scene, but thankfully, authorities have reassured us that there’s no reason to believe anyone else is at risk right now.
Okay, so Sheriff Nanos said in a press conference on February 2nd that he doesn’t think there’s an immediate danger right now, which is… good, I guess? But he also said they still have a TON of work ahead of them, and honestly, that’s stressing me out. I’m glued to every update, and ‘a lot of work’ just feels… ominous. I need answers!
Savannah hasn’t been on Today since February 1st, when her mother was reported missing. However, local authorities have been in touch with her and are ensuring she’s safe.
The sheriff confirmed they had spoken with her. Her security team has been communicating with them all night, but they aren’t ruling anything out at this point.

On Feb. 2, Pima County police shared a series of updates on the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance.
Investigators now think the woman was taken from her home against her will, likely sometime during the night, according to a Pima County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. Detectives are investigating the possibility that she was kidnapped.

After news broke that Nancy might have been taken from her home in Arizona while she was sleeping, Savannah made a heartfelt plea.
In a recent Instagram post on February 2nd, she shared her beliefs, writing that she and others find strength in prayer, unity, love, and hope. She expressed a firm belief in goodness, humanity, and, most importantly, in God.
Savannah continued, expressing gratitude for everyone’s prayers for her mother, Nancy. She described Nancy as a woman of strong beliefs and a devoted person, and asked for continued prayers, believing they would provide comfort and strength right now.
She added, “we need you.”
To conclude her plea, Savannah shared a Bible verse from Isaiah.
She shared a verse from Isaiah, writing, ‘He will keep those with steadfast hearts, who trust in the Lord, in perfect peace.’ She added that it’s a timeless message for everyone.
Savannah continued, “Bring her home.”

Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that DNA evidence was discovered at Nancy’s house, which is now being treated as a crime scene.
Oh my gosh, they actually took samples! I was glued to the Today show report on February 3rd, and the investigator said they’re hoping they can get enough DNA from them to finally figure out what they’re dealing with! I’m seriously on the edge of my seat – this could be it, the breakthrough we’ve all been waiting for! I just NEED to know what they find!
Two days after Nancy went missing, Nanos held a press conference to explain what happened leading up to her disappearance.
According to Nanos, the doorbell camera stopped working at 1:47 a.m., about four hours after she got back from a family visit, as she explained in a press conference on February 5th.
The software identified someone at the door, but the video was automatically deleted because Nancy didn’t have a paid subscription. However, the representative assured her they were still working to recover the footage.
The sheriff explained that Nancy’s pacemaker app lost connection with her phone at 2:28 a.m. The family found her missing at 11:56 a.m., and 911 was called to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department just three minutes later, at 12:03 p.m.
Oh my gosh, he basically explained how it always happens. Like, first the patrol officers get there, right? Then they see everything, and that’s when the real work begins! The search and rescue teams jump into action, and the detectives… they’re sent to all the different areas to start figuring things out. It’s just… amazing how quickly it all unfolds when he describes it!

On February 4th, Savannah, Camron, and Annie read letters they had written, hoping to reach their mother and anyone who might be holding her, asking for her to be brought home safely.
In a video posted to Instagram, the family said they’re doing everything possible and are willing to communicate. They emphasized the importance of verifying their daughter is still alive and in the possession of whoever has her, given how easily videos and images can be altered these days.
She described her mother as the center of their world, their comfort and stability. Sadly, her mother is very frail and lives with constant pain. Currently, she doesn’t have access to the medication she desperately needs, both to stay alive and to ease her suffering.
The next day, Camron confirmed in a separate video that the family was still “waiting for contact.”
We’re pleading with whoever has our mother to please contact us. We haven’t received any direct communication, and we urgently need to establish a way to communicate so we can begin to resolve this situation.
During a press conference on February 5th, FBI Special Agent Heith Janke announced the arrest of Derrick Callella from California. Callella is accused of sending fake texts as part of a scheme to profit from the situation. Authorities are also taking a detailed ransom letter shared with TMZ very seriously. Callella has not yet entered a plea and was released on a $20,000 bond.
However, he noted, the Guthrie family was “still waiting for communication.”

On February 7th, the day officials told Today they had searched Annie’s Arizona property as a routine step in the investigation, Savannah posted another Instagram video suggesting they’d received a response to a previous request.
In a video, she said, while holding hands with Camron and Annie, that they understood the message received. She pleaded for their mother’s return, explaining it was the only way they could find peace and celebrate with her.
And if her intentions weren’t clear, Savannah added, “This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

Investigators shared surveillance photos of a person of interest in the case on February 10th.
Footage from a camera on Nancy’s property shows a person wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack walking up to the house. The individual then appears to punch the camera, breaking it. Police had previously noted the camera was damaged when they arrived at the scene.
For the past eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working with private companies to find any lost, damaged, or hidden images or videos from Nancy Guthrie’s home. This effort was necessary because recording devices had been removed. They were able to recover the video from data still stored on the system’s servers, according to a statement shared with TopMob News.
“Working with our partners,” the note continued, “law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”
Following the FBI’s release of video showing someone approaching Nancy’s house, investigators shared details describing the suspect.
According to the FBI’s Phoenix office, the suspect is a man around 5’9” to 5’10” tall with an average build. He was seen in a video wearing a black ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack with a capacity of 25 liters.
The FBI is now offering a $100,000 reward – up from $50,000 – for information that helps find Nancy Guthrie or leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

After Savannah Guthrie’s mother was reported missing over two weeks ago, Pima County Sheriff Nanos released a statement explaining who investigators are looking at in connection with the 84-year-old’s disappearance.
In a statement on February 16th, authorities confirmed that the entire Guthrie family – including all siblings and their spouses – have been ruled out as suspects in this case. They noted the family has been fully cooperative and are themselves considered victims.
