A key date is being highlighted in the search for Nancy Guthrie.
Following Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos’ announcement that investigators were seeking surveillance footage from January 11th – a date when a possible suspect was reportedly seen – he is now focusing on that specific time period as a key piece of information in the search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother.
Nanos stated on March 23rd that they believe an event happened on January 11th, though interest in that date is still based on speculation, even with the FBI’s examination of related devices and digital information.
Nanos highlighted the ongoing investigation into Nancy’s disappearance, which began after she was reported missing on February 1st. While he didn’t explain why investigators are focusing on a specific date, he confirmed the investigation will continue.
“We have so much in front of us,” he said. “And we believe we have good evidence in front of us.”
He admitted it might not work out, saying, “I could be wrong, but we’re not going to stop trying.”
According to NBC News, Detective Nanos said investigators looking at footage from a Google Nest camera contacted the company for help. Google first told them a key image was from January 11th, but later admitted they couldn’t confirm the exact date the picture was taken.

The search for Nancy continues, and Savannah has asked the public to keep helping. Nancy is a mother to Annie and Camron Guthrie, and the late Charles Guthrie was their father. Savannah is especially asking people in Tucson to try and remember what they were doing in mid-January, as it might be helpful to the investigation.
Savannah and her family released a statement on March 21st to KVOA News 4 Tucson, appealing to the public for help. They believe someone in the community may have information related to the case, even if they don’t realize it’s important. They are asking people to think back to the days and nights of January 31st and February 1st, and also the evening of January 11th, hoping a memory will surface.
We’re asking everyone to please take another look at anything they might remember about our mom’s case—check security camera footage, diaries, texts, or even just things you noticed or heard at the time. Even seemingly small details could be important, so please don’t hesitate to share anything that comes to mind.

Nancy Guthrie, mother to Annie, Camron, and Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 p.m. on January 31st, according to the Pima County police.

Oh my gosh, I was so worried when I heard about Nancy! Apparently, her family reported her missing on February 1st. A friend of hers noticed she hadn’t been at church that morning – can you imagine?! – and let her family know. They searched everywhere on her property for almost an hour, but when they couldn’t find her, they had to call the police around noon. I’ve been glued to the news ever since, just hoping for good news!
Oh my gosh, Sheriff Chris Nanos himself actually went to her house! He explained everything about the very first stages of the investigation – I mean, homicide detectives were there! It’s just… incredible to think about him being at the scene, figuring things out right away. I’ve been following this case so closely, and knowing he was personally involved from the start is… wow.
We usually don’t involve the sheriff in situations like this, but the details coming out of the house are deeply troubling,” he said at a press conference on February 2nd. “This case was different because of what officers described and what we discovered while examining the scene.
“This isn’t how we usually handle things,” Nanos explained. “Normally, our homicide team only investigates when there’s a death, a body to look at. In this case, we sent them based solely on what the surveyors reported.”

After looking into what happened, officials stated they think a crime occurred at Nancy’s house.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos stated that investigators now confirm they are dealing with a crime scene. He appealed to the public for assistance, noting the community has consistently helped solve difficult cases and he hopes they will do so again.
The sheriff pointed to Nancy’s difficulty walking – she couldn’t walk even a short distance on her own – as a key reason to suspect she didn’t disappear voluntarily.
He stated, “We’re certain she didn’t simply leave on her own. Evidence at the location suggests something else happened.”

The search for Nancy is still ongoing, and officials are concerned because she needs daily medication to stay healthy, and she likely doesn’t have it with her.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos explained that an 84-year-old woman under their care is facing serious health issues and urgently needs medication. Without it within 24 hours, her condition could become life-threatening.
We’re asking anyone with information about this – if you’ve seen or heard anything, please get in touch. Call 911. We don’t want another tragedy, and we need the public’s help.
Although Nancy has had health problems for a while, Dr. Nanos highlighted that she remains mentally sharp.
Oh my gosh, everyone needs to know! Dr. Nanos just said it – Nancy Guthrie is completely with it, her mind is amazing! It’s not dementia at all, honestly. She’s so sharp, it’s incredible. The family is desperate for people to understand she didn’t just wander off confused – it’s just that, well, she’s getting older, and her body has limits. They want everyone to know she’s still her – bright and aware!
With the search for Nancy still ongoing, Nanos expressed his wish for her to come home safely.
“I hope we find her safe and sound,” he emphasized, “but we cannot ignore what’s in front of us.”

The day after Nancy was reported missing, the anchor of the Today show publicly shared how difficult this time is for her family.
Speaking for my family, I want to express our gratitude for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and messages we’ve received,” she told NBC’s morning show on February 2nd. “Our main priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely.
She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the investigation and asked anyone with relevant information to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Once Savannah Guthrie learned her mother, Nancy, had been reported missing, her colleagues on the Today show immediately expressed their support publicly.
Jenna Bush Hager shared on the February 2nd episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that she is personally friends with Nancy and has a lot of affection for her.
She continued, saying they were deeply thinking of Savannah and her family, and sending their prayers to everyone affected.
Meanwhile, Sheinelle Jones emphasized the importance of community during this difficult time.
She said she felt the show truly represented the community at its finest when it asked viewers to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s department with any information related to the case, even if it seemed insignificant.
She added, “So we’re sending our prayers but we’re also sending our collective action.”
Before concluding the segment, both hosts continued, “We love you, Savannah.”

And Sunday Today anchor Willie Geist also urged fans to keep an eye out for Nancy.
On February 2nd, he posted on Instagram asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona. He also included the sheriff’s department’s phone number, stating that she was missing.
Savannah’s former colleague, Hoda Kotb, also responded to the surprising news by posting a heartwarming photo of Savannah and Nancy together on the Today show set. In a brief message on Instagram from February 2nd, Hoda shared a red heart and praying hands emoji.

Police have labeled Nancy’s home in Arizona a crime scene, but they don’t think the public needs to be concerned for their safety.
At a press conference on February 2nd, Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that he didn’t believe there was an immediate danger, but emphasized that the investigation was ongoing and much work remained.
Savannah hasn’t been on Today since February 1st, when her mother was reported missing. However, local authorities have been checking in with her to make sure she’s okay.
The sheriff confirmed they had spoken with her. Her security team has been in contact with them all night, but they aren’t ruling anything out at this point.

On Feb. 2, Pima County police shared a series of updates on the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance.
Investigators now think the woman was taken from her home against her will, likely during the night, according to a Pima County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson on February 2nd. Detectives are investigating the possibility that she was kidnapped.

After news broke that Nancy might have been taken from her home in Arizona while she was asleep, Savannah made a heartfelt plea.
In a recent Instagram post from February 2nd, she shared her beliefs, stating she and others find strength in prayer, unity, love, and hope. She expressed a deep faith in goodness, humanity, and, most importantly, in God.
Savannah continued, thanking everyone for keeping her mother, Nancy, in their thoughts and prayers. She described Nancy as a woman of strong beliefs and a devoted person, and asked for continued prayers, believing they would offer comfort and strength right now.
She added, “we need you.”
To conclude her plea, Savannah shared a Bible verse from Isaiah.
She shared a verse from Isaiah, writing, “He will keep those with steadfast hearts and unwavering trust in the Lord in perfect peace.” She believed this message held timeless wisdom for everyone.
Savannah continued, “Bring her home.”

Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that DNA evidence was discovered at Nancy’s home, which is now being treated as a crime scene.
Oh my gosh, they actually took samples! I was glued to the Today show on February 3rd, and the investigator said they’re really hoping the DNA they got is good enough to finally tell us what we’re dealing with! I mean, a real identification… it’s everything I’ve been waiting for! I just need to know!
Oh my gosh, two days after she vanished, Detective Nanos finally spoke to the press! He walked us through everything, step by step, explaining exactly what happened leading up to Nancy going missing. I hung on every word, desperate for any clue… it was just heartbreaking.
According to Nanos, the doorbell camera stopped working at 1:47 a.m., about four hours after she got back from a family visit, as she explained in a press conference on February 5th.
The software identified someone at the door, but the video was automatically deleted because Nancy didn’t pay for a subscription. However, the representative assured her they were still working to recover the footage.
The sheriff explained that Nancy’s pacemaker app lost connection with her phone at 2:28 a.m. Later, at 11:56 a.m., her family found her missing, and they called 911 at 12:03 p.m. to report it to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
About ten minutes after that, he explained that when their patrol teams arrive at the scene, they immediately begin responding with both search and rescue and detective units.

On February 4th, Savannah, Camron, and Annie read letters they wrote to their mother and the people who might have taken her, begging for Nancy to come home safely.
In a video posted to Instagram, the family said they’re doing everything possible and are willing to communicate. They emphasized concerns about the potential for manipulated media, stating they need absolute confirmation that their loved one is alive and in the possession of those they are communicating with.
As someone who focuses on well-being, I’m often reminded how central mothers are to our lives – they truly are the heart of the home. Right now, my own mom is going through a really tough time. Her health is delicate, and she’s constantly battling pain. It breaks my heart to say she doesn’t have access to the medication she desperately needs, not just to stay alive, but to simply have a better quality of life and ease her suffering. It’s a situation that highlights how vital access to healthcare is for everyone.
The next day, Camron confirmed in a separate video that the family was still “waiting for contact.”
We’re asking whoever has our mother to please contact us. We haven’t received any direct communication, and we need to be able to talk to them so we can start resolving this situation.
During a press conference on February 5th, FBI special agent Heith Janke announced the arrest of Derrick Callella from California. Callella is accused of sending fake texts as part of a scheme to profit from the situation. Authorities are also taking a detailed ransom letter shared with TMZ very seriously. Callella has not yet entered a plea and was released on a $20,000 bond.
However, he noted, the Guthrie family was “still waiting for communication.”

On February 7th, the day officials told Today they had searched Annie’s Arizona home as a routine part of the investigation, Savannah posted another Instagram video suggesting her earlier wish had come true.
Holding hands with Camron and Annie, she said in the video, “We got your message and we understand. Please, bring our mother back to us so we can celebrate with her. That’s the only thing that will bring us peace.”
And if her intentions weren’t clear, Savannah added, “This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

Investigators shared surveillance photos of a person of interest in the case on February 10th.
Footage from a camera on Nancy’s property shows a person wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack walking toward her home. The video then appears to show the individual punching the camera, which police found broken when they arrived.
For the past eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working with private companies to find any lost, damaged, or hidden images and videos from Nancy Guthrie’s home. This effort was necessary because recording devices had been removed. They were able to recover the video from data still stored on the system’s servers, according to a statement shared with TopMob News.
“Working with our partners,” the note continued, “law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”
Two days after the FBI shared video of the person who went near Nancy’s house, investigators provided a description of the suspect.
According to the FBI’s Phoenix office, the suspect is a man around 5’9” to 5’10” tall with an average build. He was seen in a video wearing a black ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack with a capacity of 25 liters.
The FBI is now offering a $100,000 reward – up from $50,000 – for information that helps find Nancy Guthrie or leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

After Nancy had been missing for over two weeks, Pima County Sheriff Nanos released a statement to explain who might be connected to the case.
In a statement on February 16th, investigators confirmed that the entire Guthrie family – including all siblings and their spouses – has been ruled out as suspects. They emphasized the family has been fully cooperative and are themselves considered victims in this case.

From what we gathered during the investigation, the gloves discovered near Nancy’s house just didn’t seem to connect with the rest of the evidence. It was like a piece that didn’t fit the puzzle, and honestly, it led us down a few dead ends. As someone who’s spent years looking at details, I can tell you, those little inconsistencies can be surprisingly important!
On March 2nd, Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated to KVOA, the local NBC affiliate, that investigators initially and firmly believed a pair of gloves found about two miles from the victim’s home belonged to a restaurant. This was nearly three weeks after the gloves – which contained DNA – were discovered.
Although some people noticed the gloves in the doorbell footage looked similar to those worn by the suspect, Nanos dismissed this as just a guess. They identified the gloves’ owner as an employee of a local restaurant and confirmed the gloves were not connected to the crime.
