I’m so excited! It looks like things are finally moving with Naruto again! After celebrating the 20th anniversary, Kishimoto-sensei started planning a big return for the series, but it hit a snag and got delayed. It’s been three years of waiting, but it seems like we might finally get to see this special revival project this year! As a huge fan, I’ve been eagerly anticipating this and it’s awesome to hear things are kicking off with a special focus on Naruto himself!
2026 looks promising for Naruto fans! The series is revisiting the younger versions of its characters, as seen before the events of Naruto: Shippuden. A new illustration from the anime’s designer, Tetsuya Nishio, featuring Naruto and Iruka, hints that this throwback might arrive this year. You can see the illustration below.
What to Know for Naruto’s New Anime

It’s exciting to see the classic design of young Naruto Uzumaki again, especially because it’s central to the new anime project. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Naruto, a four-episode special was announced, focusing on Naruto and Team 7 before the Naruto: Shippuden storyline. Originally planned for release in Fall 2023, the project faced significant delays, leaving fans wondering about its status. However, it now looks like the episodes might finally arrive this year.
This new artwork suggests that the rumored revival of Naruto could happen this year, though details are still scarce. We know FLOW will be back to perform an updated version of the opening theme, “GO!!!,” and they’ll also cover ORANGE RANGE’s ending theme, “Viva★Rock.” However, despite being in development for a while, very little has been shown about the new episodes themselves.
Is This All For Naruto?
As a huge anime fan, I’m getting seriously excited about the possibility of Naruto coming back this year! Can you imagine? It would be amazing to see Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach – the original Shonen Jump Big Three – all airing new episodes at the same time again after so long! If Naruto does return, 2024 is going to be legendary. But even if it doesn’t, we’re still getting new Boruto chapters every month, so there’s always something to look forward to!
The anime series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is also planning a return after being on hold for several years. While it likely wouldn’t generate quite the same excitement as a continuation of the original Naruto, new episodes would still be a welcome addition. After such a long break, any progress on Boruto would be a significant development for fans.
