It’s frustrating when a TV show you enjoy gets cancelled. The television industry is incredibly competitive these days, and the last few years have seen a lot of shows abruptly end. Networks like NBC haven’t been immune, cancelling several programs for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. One of these recently cancelled shows, a crime drama that ran for two seasons, is now available on Netflix.
The crime drama Found quickly became popular on NBC when it first aired during the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strike, but the show was cancelled after only two seasons. Now, fans can stream both seasons on Netflix starting January 2nd. Created by Nkechi Okoro Carroll, Found stars Shanola Hampton as Gabi Mosely, a woman who was once kidnapped and now helps find missing people as part of a crisis management team.
NBC’s Found Is One of the Best Shows You Haven’t Seen
Fans will be excited to hear that Found is heading to Netflix, giving a wider audience a chance to watch this fantastic show. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, currently boasting a 70% rating from critics and a 78% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Reviewers have called it highly addictive and a thrilling, unpredictable experience.
Beyond a typical crime show, Found is a compelling exploration of its characters, weaving together individual cases with a larger story about overcoming trauma, finding justice, and the complexities of morality. The show’s central character is both a hero and a villain, and we also see how the rest of her team deals with their own pasts. Found distinguishes itself from other crime dramas by intentionally focusing on cases involving people often ignored by law enforcement – people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those experiencing homelessness. It brings much-needed attention to the lack of media and police focus on these communities, giving these important stories the care they deserve.
Could Netflix Save Found?
The cancellation of Found in May 2025, after only two seasons, upset many fans, who started petitions hoping to bring the show back. Despite a strong premise and positive audience response – Season 2 earned an 88% audience score – the show’s ratings on traditional television dropped, leading to its end. Now that Found has moved to a new streaming platform, some viewers are hoping Netflix might pick it up for a third season.
Netflix is known for rescuing shows that other networks have cancelled, like they did with Manifest. However, it doesn’t look like Found will get the same treatment. According to sources who spoke with TVLine, the show has been shopped around to other networks and hasn’t found a new home, making a revival unlikely. While a lot of viewers watching on Netflix might change things, fans probably shouldn’t expect a rescue.
