Despite a few shows finishing up recently, the NCIS universe is still growing, and a new series, NCIS: New York, is set to premiere.
Byron Balasco is the showrunner for the new series, and the pilot episode was written by R Scott Gemmill, who also created “The Pitt.” Gemmill is a veteran of the “NCIS” universe, having written for all fourteen seasons of “NCIS: Los Angeles” and led the show as a showrunner for seven of those seasons.
It’s easy to see why he’s returning for this new series – a major star from NCIS: Los Angeles is coming back to play their part.
LL Cool J is reprising his role as Sam Hanna, and has previously appeared on both the original NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i.
LL Cool J will be acting alongside Scott Caan, known for his role as Danny ‘Danno’ Williams on Hawaii Five-0. Caan previously appeared in the NCIS world with a crossover appearance on NCIS: Los Angeles. But for NCIS: New York, he’ll be playing a completely different character.

I was so excited to hear about NCIS: New York! It was announced yesterday, and Amy Reisenbach from CBS explained that LL Cool J is practically family to them. He’s already made a few appearances on the original NCIS over the last couple of years, and everyone loved it, so they’re building a whole new show around him. It sounds amazing!
The chance to send Sam Hanna, a New Yorker who spent years working on NCIS: LA in Los Angeles, back to his roots presented a compelling and interesting storyline for the writers.

Besides the original NCIS, there are currently two other shows in the NCIS universe: NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Sydney.
Last year, a new series called NCIS: Tony & Ziva premiered on Paramount+, but it was quickly canceled after only one season.
You can now watch NCIS on Disney+ in the UK. A Disney+ subscription costs £5.99 per month or £99.90 for the year.
