Neighbours star Ryan Moloney opens up on ADHD in tough Celebrity SAS interrogation

During tonight’s episode of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, Neighbours actor Ryan Moloney openly shared his struggles with ADHD in a heartfelt moment.

The actor, famous for playing Toadie on the popular Australian soap opera, is competing for Team Australia on the newest season of the intense reality show. He was among the first contestants questioned by the show’s instructors.

From the start, Moloney quickly emerged as a leader in the camp, frequently directing the other recruits – telling them when to refill their water bottles and prepare for what was coming next. The Directing Staff observed this closely.

Detectives had some concerns about Moloney’s personality, so they decided to bring him in for questioning to get to know him better.

When asked about his experience so far, Moloney explained that it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions. He’s been feeling scared at times, but is trying his best to embrace the challenge and quickly learn what’s expected of him.

Moloney described his childhood as unusual, especially because he started working on the show Neighbours at age 15 and remained a cast member for thirty years.

Moloney described the experience of playing someone else for an extended period as exhausting. Balancing the demands of a twelve-hour workday fully immersed in the role with family life and preparing for the next day’s scenes left little time for personal respite. Despite enjoying his time on ‘Neighbours,’ he felt driven to pursue other acting opportunities and consistently challenged himself to do so.

Moloney described a difficult time when he felt constantly overwhelmed and like he could never meet expectations. He realized he needed help when he started questioning whether he even wanted to continue with his life. This led him to seek a diagnosis, which revealed he had ADHD.

Honestly, getting that diagnosis was the best thing that ever happened to me. It was such a relief! For years, I struggled to understand why my brain worked the way it did, why I perceived things so differently from others. That diagnosis finally gave me the answers I needed – it was incredibly validating and helped me make sense of everything.

The show continues tomorrow, January 5th, with the remaining celebrity contestants facing even tougher challenges.

The show’s description reveals a grueling competition where contestants will be broken down – relationships will fall apart, pride will be damaged, and participants will be pushed beyond their breaking points, ultimately losing sight of who they once were.

Ultimately, the big question is whether any of the celebrity recruits can handle the intense physical and mental challenges of the course and prove themselves to the Directing Staff. Even more importantly, will the UK or Australia win when their competition comes to a head?

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues on Monday 5th January at 9pm on Channel 4.
