Animation has had a fantastic year so far, and a new film is quickly becoming a frontrunner for the best of the year. NEON is releasing Arco, which has already earned critical acclaim. I was really impressed by the voice cast, and the visuals are absolutely gorgeous – they reminded me of the work of Hayao Miyazaki. You can see the new trailer below.
Directed by Ugo Bienvenu and co-written with Felix de Givry, Arco looks incredibly promising based on its first trailer, suggesting it will be a real treat for fans. The film boasts a fantastic voice cast including Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Natalie Portman, Flea, Andy Samberg, and Mark Ruffalo, but even without dialogue, it immediately draws you in.
I watched a film about a boy named Arco, who comes from what looks like a perfect future. But he unexpectedly ends up in 2075 and discovers things aren’t so great. He meets a girl named Iris and her robot, Mikki, and together they try to fix the problems of this time and find a way to send Arco back to his own world.

The animated film Arco is generating Oscar buzz and is considered a strong contender for Best Animated Feature. It has already received critical acclaim, winning the Cristal Award at the Annecy animation festival and being selected for showings at Cannes and Toronto. Arco will qualify for Oscar consideration with a limited release on November 14th, followed by a wider release in early 2026. The official synopsis is available below.
